Cities seem more natural in that they are allowed to grow as an autonomous system, rather than being designed. Not all cities, of course, but most of the good ones. There have been attempts to design a whole city and they mostly failed. It

Yeah, I might have been a little excited when posting this, and a bit frustrated at the type of material we've been seeing here recently. To your question, 3 things: 1. Even if you completely disagree with the message, Kunstler's delivery a

Actually I just realized it's pretty easy to do with delicious right now... #!/usr/bin/env ruby require 'open-uri' require 'digest/md5' url = ' http://love2d.org/' del_url = " http://delicious.com/url/" + Digest::MD5.hexdigest(url) html =

Would be cool to have an API for this (just send it a URL and get back a list of tags)

Architecture and urban planning are very close to software IMHO, being about form and function and complex systems. This one is a brilliant talk on that subject.

This is cool. I'd love to see more stories like this, a coder talks about what he does, instead the linkbait submissions that are taking over HN recently.

Cool idea. There's already a similar site for PHP->Rails - http://railsforphp.com/ - would be great to have something that works for multiple languages. My $0.02: Allow user annotation (ie, comments). Back when PHP was new, user comme

Sorry, I'm taking that back... I was thinking of Obama's campaign site where you could actually access stuff like /includes/footer.php (at least for a while, seems to be fixed now)

Having /includes/ under document root - and trying to fix this via a robots.txt entry (??) - wouldn't reflect well on Obama, if they actually had any meaning :)

I think it was mostly multi-protocol clients, which are not limited to one network, and products that one-upped IM like Skype or gTalk. Other than that, is ICQ more dead than MSN messenger or Yahoo's IM or AIM?

Maybe there's some HN value here - I've been thinking for some time the next great establishment to lose most of its influence due to the Web will be academia. Universities seem like record companies ca. 1996, or media companies ca 2000 -

BBC is not anti semite (though it is anti Israeli, according to its own report: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Balen_Report ) Anyway, I second "no politics" and flagging this. Take it to Reddit.
