Hopefully as you get older you naturally become less hands on and more "bigger picture" tech lead or architect.

Will be an interesting space to watch. Traditional engines are easy as they all use the same ECU controlled parts (coil firing, crank/cam sensors, pressure/temp/airflow sensors, etc). You either reuse the existing ones if it

Thankfully on windows 10 pro you can set a bunch of registry keys aka gpos to block windows 11.

Reminds me about a guy I knew who was going on about his amazing contract rate and I was like "wow that's approaching a million a year" - only to be sheepishly told that it was for for a whole 4 days...

It would be interesting to see a true ROI calculation, eg. Sell old laptop, buy new, what's the cost delta vs Buy new framework motherboard, sell old motherboard, what's the cost delta

I can understand wireless mouse and headset, but for a keyboard just having a detachable usb is fine incase you want to move it for cleaning underneath or something.

I use outlook which lets you set the from address as required.

Its possible all the low hanging fruit for automation has been picked. Pretty much every industry is reliant on computers and automation now, and all the high ROI process improvements are done.

Citrix performance can depend a lot on the apps - older win32 apps work really well as the object caching masked the latency on windows and buttons. Newer apps seem to somehow make the caching not very effective.

Yep that's a valid scenario, if you need more granularity than just fail or success then you will have to use a different method, e.g. Status=0 Somecommand || status=$? Then do logic based on status
677.
by nikau 4y ago
It's a pretty bizarre use case, why would you need the second if statement, you already are in logic based on the return code I can't think of an example of the if statement being confusing that isn't relying on $?
678.
by nikau 4y ago
That's correct behavior though. You should do if ARG=false Then use $ARG not $? in the if statement.

by nikau 4y ago
Curious on this one, do you have an example showing it not working as expected?

Not sure how easy it is, but its documented pretty thoroughly on the openwrt dooco: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/vlan/switch_conf...

by nikau 4y ago
Worth noting even the cheapest router chipsets normally support vlan tagging, so with a sub $100 router you can flash an opensource firmware on it like openwrt and then isolate network traffic on each port and filter it with iptables.

Sandy has his own agendas - since he started to buy tesla stock I take his commentary with a grain of salt. You notice when he talked about a failed casting he didn't mention anything around the fact that castings are brittle relative

I mean its reported tesla are looking around for alternate press suppliers and people in the industry have also commented that trying to make a casting that big is pretty ambitious and a 60% scrap rate is not unexpected. People have also ca

I'm amazed more WFH for call centres wasn't a thing pre-pandemic. 20+ years ago definity extenders let a person working from home have a digital pabx extension like in the office and shared the network link with their PC - perfect

how is it bullshit? I'm impartial - I don't have any tesla stocks or own one (have only taken one for a drive). They are OK cars, but musk is a bullshitter and overhypes a lot, and the cracks in the facade are starting to show as
