It would be cool but I don't see it happening any time soon. Plenty of demos have been created, but the ASICs that the SDR would be competing with are much more efficient at doing their particular job, and they're very cheap.

The site is pretty basic. There's a public feed and the member section has threaded discussions. There's only one public group registering right now, but I hope to create a lot more if I can get some interest.

This is still very rough around the edges, but I'd love to get a few HN users to give some feedback on the latest release. I think most people could benefit from being part of more small groups - at the minimum I think it could be a ni

One of the projects I've been working on is sookiestack.com for managing take-home challenges- if there's any biz-dev types who think they'd be good at marketing it I'd be open to a partnership (email in profile).

I'm working on podaero.com with a goal kind of like this - I will be launching some public groups over the next week (it's been private for a while). I'm planning a 'Show HN' soon. I'm interested in the idea of

Some of the larger whale boats in my area (CA) are very loud, and I can hear their droning miles away when I'm kayaking - there's dozens of these boats. They cooperate with each other to find the whales, so I assume it's a co

I've stuck some painter's tape over the logos that are in my face all day long, like on my workstation display. Might be a little bit excessive but it feels good to exercise some control over my environment.

Agreed. I moved from smart watches back to an old Casio sgw-100. Battery life is the main reason. It's nice just to always have a watch that works, and be able to go on camping trips and really be able to rely on the device. I've

I had an old roommate try to sue in-n-out after getting severe food poisoning. It actually went to court - the in-n-out attorney completely destroyed him, he was outgunned. They showed receipts for thousands of people who ate there that day

Seems reminiscent of the Baird television with the mechanical Nipkow disc. Is there any tech on the horizon that can replace this in the same way tubes beat out the mechanical TV?

These types of UIs can be inspiring in the same way sc-fi novels can be. I've always thought that i3wm and other tiling window managers let you get into the spirit of some of these futuristic UIs, especially with a large 4k+ display.

hah I remember reading that as a youth (must have been 20+ years ago) but I can't find the title either. More recently I read Seveneves and it's also got some ham radio worked into the narrative.
