Where did you find that information about per-launch costs of the shuttle? Another post here claims this data hasn't been released. Edit: so it seems $1.2-$1.5 billion is the accepted figure from outside analysis, but I don't see how this i

I'm not sure what POSi or NEGi are (you can have multiple winners, and everyone else loses?), but it seems like you want an algorithm that takes past performance into account, and, and allows for variability in performance. You need to keep

I think it's important to note that this is from a month ago, and there have been a number of follow-ups: 1. My Date with Ben Silberman [founder] http://ddkportraits.com/2012/02/my-date-with-ben-silbermann-... 2. Responses to Questions h

There is nothing fairly obvious (or, probably, factual) about women being better note-takers than men. Certainly not to the extent that it's better for someone to automatically ask the woman to take notes, rather than say 'who here is good

I think another commenter in this thread had a good answer (it was his understanding of California law). You can politely ask a coworker on a date, but if that person declines, then you drop it.

Yes, that too. Man, it's almost as if 'lighten up' is a complex phrase with many different aspects of meaning :) I like the way you do think through all of these different meanings, though

I think that solving the problem of an unsafe neighborhood is much more intractable than solving sexism in the workplace. Mostly, this is because 'we' are not part of the culture in those unsafe neighborhoods. We are part of the tech cultur

My interpretation is that she felt the low cut dress comment was derogatory (like the term slut), and that the man, by sitting across from her in order to sexualize her, thought he was doing what she (the slut) wanted ("why else do women dr

If only it were possible to apologize for someone else. However, that is not the case, as you are not the ultimate cause of their actions (their own brains are), so you can only apologize for what you do.

OK downvoters, you're right. In the movie, they explain that a kick is the feeling of falling. So why didn't Cobb wake up when he was falling towards the water, but after he fell in? My guess is that the water invaded the dream and he drown

Of course that's offensive. But you're still doing what knightenvy was not, and going beyond "I don't understand." It's perfectly fine to say you don't understand something. But from there, you should try to gain an understanding, and your

Because it's not the falling, it's the jolt of landing. When in free fall, you are not actually accelerating. In terms of landing, though, it doesn't matter if you hit the ground or if, say, the bottom of an elevator hits you.

Yes, women as sexy/sexual objects were listed as a perk. No, it's not as bad as slavery, and no one is saying it is. I'm not sponsoring hooters, and I've never been to one. Am I supposed to protest hooters now in order to have a legitimate
