I was kind of disappointed after the first paragraph, when I realized this wasn't talking about the kind of hacker I thought, as in Hacker News. If it were, it surely would have mentioned some awesome projects like: Hack Tyler http://hackt

Before I upgraded to a router with more memory, I found that a couple of moderately popular torrents would fill up the router's NAT table, and thus memory. Existing outgoing connections continued to work, but any new connections were DOA.

From a UX point of view I absolutely agree. However, I was told by my bank that federal law limited electronic transfers to no more than 6 per month, for all of my accounts at the bank. I was told I could make as many in-person transfers as

Ah, indeed. I think more than anything this illustrates the state of my brain after staring at code for well too long--the first thing that occurred to me was that this was spam or some sort of colossal conspiracy. Alright then, time for be

While some of the DNS data points at Google, it's primary DNS server shares the IP address with a DNS server for slide.com. The IP address for that DNS server is part of a block that is allocated to Slide, Inc. at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway,

I wish I had the courage to reply that way. I have 1.5, pushing 2, years of web app experience (in PHP and Python), but I am constantly being asked if I would be interested in relocating for such and such amazing senior level Java position.

I worked in retail and higher-education for a number of years. I saw sensor lights used well and poorly. If tuned correctly and used correctly, they work very well. Good: sensor lights in walk-in coolers and bathrooms at grocery stores seem

Absolutely, we just joined a CSA this year and love it. Not only does it bring you closer to your food, but also to your neighbors and community. For anyone in or around Lawrence, KS, Rolling Prairie [ http://www.rollingprairie.net/ ] has b

At first yes, but we found that if the only option was what we wanted them to eat, then eventually they would eat it. You don't have to have an iron fist to be assertive. Besides, I kind of like having rebels for kids.

A prize that is not a commodity. I'd love one-on-one time with a previous startup founder, a prioritized email exchange with some noteworthy person or expert, or access to a service that is not yet available. If it had to be a commodity, I

I know it doesn't fit the article's focus on workstation setup, but I find that I also need regular, live interaction with other people. A trip to the office for a couple hours a week or meeting up for lunch with a coworker has the effect o

I definitely like the interface and the notion of contact centered email. I do have some questions though: - What defines a contact? A person? An email adress? I ask because I can't seem to give any contact more than one email address. - Fo

I've been using CakePHP on an existing project (Cake was already in use) and it does not completely suck. It provides the normal, useful MVC abstractions, an interesting way of integrating non-Cake libraries, and decent updates (on the 1.2.
