I think it's a little disingenuous to generalize from two examples (Obama and Kristof) to "liberals." And it seems that, at least in the second referenced editorial, Kristof seems mostly impressed by the relative advances in Chinese educa

I've long believed that free will is illusory. Empirical evidence includes studies that suggest that we may make decisions before we're actually aware of them (See Benjamin Libet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Libet ) Your consciou

Co-incidentally, I recently read the book referenced in the article: http://www.amazon.com/Love-Limerence-Experience-Being/dp/081... While it's short on prescriptions for actually overcoming limerence, I found it helpful in at least under

Aside: ever since I started hearing about vuvuzela, my goal in life has been to play that word in Scrabble. Unfortunately, it's not in the OPSD4 or the TWL06. I hope this will soon be rectified.

I used to work in QA and have been a proponent of unit testing generally, but I tend to agree to some extent. You can't see your blind spots, by definition, so you need really clever & devious testers to do the oddball test cases that y

I agree, but on the other hand, the Leaf has a range of 100 miles, according to the article, while the Volt will have a range of ~300 miles. I see the 100 mile range as a serious limiting factor for the Leaf (at least for Texans like myself

Actually, a banana has about 200 calories, 23g sugars, and a fairly high glycemic index: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/fruits-and-fruit-juices/1... That's why a lot of the paleo diet folks avoid them.

Indeed. Also, a full table scan can take advantage of multi-block I/O, so you really can't rely on grand generalizations. For anyone interested in these topics in an Oracle context, I recommend Tom Kyte's books.

Having lost a lot of weight on a paleo-ish diet, I don't find this surprising. A related note: fruit, while generally considered good for you, also has a lot of sugar/fructose. In particular, the process of selective breeding has made fruit
