I don't pretend to have much of a grasp of what the article is describing, but it sounds very "frictionless spherical cow in a vacuum". I'd be amazed if this technique could be applied to something as messy as turbulence

If by snapshot you mean a full (static) physical description of the scene, then the "air" part of your "arrow suspended in air" will have wake turbulence behind the arrow and not in front of it, and I'd have thought

It does sometimes get itself into a state where that harmonizing doesn't happen, even with nobody muted. I haven't worked out what the trigger is.

But, as we lament every time this topic comes up, it's not even possible to donate to Firefox. I don't know whether that would bring in significant cash, but it's frustrating that the option isn't there.

I've just stopped buying anything that displays a Clubcard price. It's pesky but doable for now. That may change, of course; I don't see them getting much pushback on this so I expect them to keep doubling down. A non-Tesco s

The upcoming movie only covers the first half of Dune ; they're hoping to make a second movie but AFAIK it's not locked in yet. Publicity seems to be keeping rather quiet about this, for obvious reasons.

Thanks! I hadn't seen that, but yes, the magic phrasing is clearly derivative. I wonder why they bothered given that it was pretty clear what the metaphor was about.

I think it's best summed up by a tweet I saw last year: Non-magic users: collect crystals, call their pet a familiar, draw pentagrams Magic users:the most magical things I keep in my house are rocks, and I keep a hammer next to them

Ah, OK, slightly confusing choice of word then. As I see it the crucial question re abortion is when a clump of cells becomes a person ; I don't think there's ever a stage where it's not (biologically) human.
