It doesn’t matter, the damage is done. If you’re an international student, are you going to risk an El Salvador gulag?

Dozens is just the number I've talked to who have told me their scale. I'm sure there's a lot more. And ultimately the precise number is not as important as the fact that it *is normal* for midsized Ruby apps to operate at th

> Enterprise customers can't use software under AGPL because it risks infecting their IP Yeah, this is BS. If you simply use AGPL software, it doesn't "infect" anything. If you *change* the AGPL software, you have to

There are companies using many thousands of Redis instances storing petabytes of data with millions of users. Now consider a no-down-time migration. How long do you think that'll take to engineer and execute?

The funny thing is that I've owned Gen 3 FSD for five years now and only in the last few months has it gotten noticeably better. It's actually respectable at driving around my city now, can handle roundabouts, make turns, etc.

Every single residential street in America is full of cars parked or moving at 25+ mph. It's a miserable experience for anyone outside of a car and dangerous for smaller children who don't pay attention and can run into traffic.

I use Pdeathsig but with SIGTERM, not SIGKILL, to ensure clean shutdown of a child Redis process. Seems crazy to use SIGKILL.

For their newest models, Rolex recommends service once per decade. FWIW, my five year old GMT is running noticeably worse than new in 2020.

I've owned two Porsches, an Audi R8 V10, half dozen sport bikes. I've done laps at Laguna Seca. I've floored them all to see what they'll do. The V10 sounded amazing. But I've never felt any interest in drag racing

When I look at a drag stripe, I see a gray, dirty rectangle of asphalt that generates huge amounts of noise and air pollution. Beyond the environmental destruction, it's a hobby that quickly destroys vehicle parts, engines, tires, brak

I participated in motorcycle track days on race tracks for 15 years. I've dragged knee at 90pmh. _That_ takes skill and balls. Drag racing seems dumb by comparison.

I get racing on a twisty track. They are legitimate tests of human skill and vehicle endurance engineering. Drag racing has none of that. There's little skill beyond reaction time and drag vehicles have almost no relation to normal veh

I’d love to see widespread car sharing with vehicles like these in the US. Suburbs can’t reduce car dependency without tools like car share to bridge the gap until other options improve.

Is it 2015? You can buy 10x as much solar+battery as nuclear these days. Nuclear is simply too complex and dangerous to compete.

Correct. Zoning code prevents building density and building codes force building crappy multi-family housing with tons of parking everywhere. Sprawl and car-dependency are bankrupting America.

The housing equivalent of "works on my machine!". Glad it worked for you but it's not working for millions of others. Your experience does not invalidate other's experiences.

Whoa, shipping their own baseband modem for the first time, skipping the Qualcomm tax. That's huge, even for Apple.
