I have transitioned to an environment where I only use a web browser, a terminal and an Emacs instance. I realise the advantage one of the huge advantages of this approach is that you have so few dependencies even Android or iOS can be OK.

Right now you can use LineageOS, or even CopperheadOS. PostmarketOS might be better in the distant future due to Linux vs Android userland.

The best option right now is to use Rockchip ARM devices. With a few little compromises you can run a pretty much free architecture: https://libreboot.org/docs/hardware/c201.html

You may be able to craft something like this in org-mode, by writing a little bit of elisp. org-mode already provides all infrastructure to organise your ideas and tag them. You would just need to do the clustering part.

Mobile hardware is a nightmare. The best thing we have to cope with it, so far, is libhybris. And I don't see things getting much better. All we have is Pyra, the incoming Neo900 and semi-closed Jollas with Sailfish.
