If it can’t be built, how does the patent harm anyone except the one who wasted their money to get the patent? There will never be a licensee or infringement to sue over.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean so maybe I’m missing the point, but pre-NeXT Mac software handled multiple monitors back in at least the early 90’s, maybe even the 80’s. A friend of mine had 4 displays on his Power Mac 8600 for example.

I’d be thrilled if self-driving cars could meet that bar, because then I can feel at least as comfortable napping in the car as I do driving it. And unlike humans, I have the expectation that my car learns when other cars crash, so I have a

On top of the issues raised by this article I have another problem with people telling me the indicator LED makes it unnecessary to cover my camera. It’s quite simple, really - the indicator only works if I look at the indicator. A sticker

I always felt like the explanations people give are way too complicated. The simple version, to me at least, is this: A mirror doesn’t flip left to right. It flips front to back. YOU flip left to right when you turn things to the mirror.

What about the idea that parallel lines do not intersect and that there is exactly one line through a point parallel to another given line? These were thousands of years old and well accepted until pretty recently.

Maybe I should apply to WD and fill my resume with things like “25-years-class experience as distinguished-class engineer-class for HGST-class employer”.

You can get in serious legal trouble for a “booby-trap” inside your own home, if a criminal accidentally is injured by it. Placing one in a publicly accessible place without even notifying the people living in the nearest homes? Failing to

My gut feel is the same. Ironically, the fact that this usage sounds wrong might, in fact, be a paradox :) It’s an apparent contradiction between our understanding of the meaning of the word and the actual usage of the word. The resolution

My initial gut response was the same - that this isn’t a paradox, but rather a proof by contradiction that one or more of the assumptions are wrong. But after thinking about it a bit more, I don’t think there’s really that much of a differe

I guess the list of things keeping me off catalina (and, by extension, new Mac hardware) just got one item longer. I recently bought a new System76 laptop as a stopgap, but it might end up becoming permanent. Kind of a sad end for 25+ year
