Where I live, people are apparently not a chicken as where you live... Most of my coworkers are happy to go back to the office. I guess we have about 10% which would like to have full WHF. OTOH, I also dont care what the majority wants.

I cant wait until I can go back to the office 100%. WFH, while convenient, is something I never wanted. I didnt want it 20 years ago when I started to work, and I dont want it full time today either, even with the covid experience. Human

To answer the headline: I'd actually pay extra for a human driver. This stuff is giving me the creeps. Not even as a passenger, must more as a blind pedestrian.

A clear instance of NIH-Syndrome. Besides, admins want something to admin... Moving to a new home and loosing your status as the guy who is allowed to set the rules isn't very atractive to most... And I even understand that. There

This is sci-fi. AVs are not there yet. And they will not be there for some time to come. Since Google started their damn AV-car-project back around 2014 (or was it even earlier) mainstream media is full of sci-fi. I had to explain to ma

Wow, seriously weird. These "microdosing reports" feel a bit like BitCoin propaganda. I mean, like if someone was trying to establish a market that wouldn't exist by simple demand. So demand is being created by telling peo

Its not that easy to get rid of sticky activists. And it is also not easy to explain "You are not representing my views" without being attacked as either stupid or uninformed. I totally understand that after a few of those exper

Before the CORBA->DBus rewrite, the AT-SPI and related projects (read: the GNOME Accessibility infrastructure) was really looking promising. The Sun Accessibility office did great work to make GNOME a useable platform for people with di

I had almost no connection to my mother, so you might like to call it traumatic. However, I was not telling my whole story. The reality is, I have a disability since childhood, so I always had "more complicated" problems then de

My generation was taught: "Once you have physical access, the game is over." I believe this is still true. Pretending otherwise feels like snake oil.

When I finished school, I had two opportunities to work freelance in IT. Both were coding jobs. One for the gambling industry, and one for a very shady PR person. I am glad I stumbled across these very suspicious clients, because it made

Yeah, apparently it is natural that languages do that. I think german does too much of that, we're basically too lazy to figure out how to phrase things properly in german, so we just stick in a few english words. That feels differen

I know. Its sad. And it happens with other things too. That is the price we (the rest of the west) pay for never having emanicpated ourselves. This "the US defines what west is" thing pretty much goes on my nerves since I real

Not being able to cope with nudity seems to be a USA specific phenomenon. I female friend of mine was almost arrested in the US for dancing too suggestively, and she was far from being nude. Seems to be a puritanism thing.

I think there is a vast difference how individuals deal with addictions. Some are better at it, and some are pretty hopeless. I have been smoking nicotine on-and-off since more then 20 years. But I still have no craving when I stop. Las
