In Australia in the past decade it's become harder to get a license. It was 25 hours of practice, now it's 100 or something. I reckon that could be one reason. Has that happened in other countries?

I agree with you about "hg log". --follow should be the default. s/branches/bookmarks/ and it's the same as git.

Mainly when I've merged a pull request on github, didn't pull to mercurial, then did some branching in mercurial. Eventually have always managed to sort it out, but sometimes requires a bit of push/pull fiddling. Now you ment

Another option is to use Mercurial with hg-git to GitHub for network effects. I've been doing that for a while for dropbear ssh, it does hit occasional problems but is overall more pleasant than straight git.

There's actually a cortex-m3 core also hiding in the Beaglebone's chip, doing power management. Regarding C vs asm, I started writing some 8mhz 4-bit capture code in C but found asm was easier to reason about timings. One line of

Yes! Calculate 1 trillion barrels of oil divided by Earth's surface area and it's hard to say it won't change something. (1 trillion barrels being rough consumption to date)

The beep-beep could be a lot quieter in general, just needs to have something so it's adaptive to the current ambient noise level. At the moment it has to be loud enough for any situation.

That's a good idea for a makefile hack - somehow force files with warnings to rebuild every time. You'll see them, and also get motivated to fix the warnings.
