This. A huge part of the problem is we think we need to be happy/succesfull/whatever and any discomfort/pain is a existential problem. It's not. It's life. It's got ups and downs. Don't let the downs get y

Why do you think crowdfunding for startups hasn't kicked off as well as hoped? What sort pitfalls have startups in the space encountered that you know about? Thanks!

tbh, I went for the "deep end" because your formula that one needs to "choose 2" as a fact of life is weird to me. Your point of "choose 2" isn't anything more than a compromise you've made. That is,

Trying not to be uncharitable here, but, if you live in Midtown, then why are you making assertions about Connecticut? Apparently you know your comment wasn't too truthful which is why you backed off with "I live in Midtown [..ev

There is a whole industry focused on portraying developing habits as being complicated. It's not. Just take things one day at a time and make sure you have your habits scheduled in the times where you are least liable to get interrupte

Pop-ups are really taking over the internet. Again. I'm all for optimizing/growth-hacking/whathaveyous, but when it detracts from the reading experience then maybe you've gone too far? This page had social share buttons

Never said I did a study, just my 2 cents. The whole article is one person's account. As is my comment. There might be others with counter examples, but learning from one's experiences is what humans do.

Yup. My first macbook pro lasted ~4 years, then I sold it for ~50% retail. Second macbook pro died after 2.5 years with a screen hardware issue. Third, and probably last, macbook pro is dying after 1.5 years. If I was a conspiracy nut, I wo

Depending on the result, bringing race into it might lead to people feeling insulated from it, and therefore not care as much ("it only happens to black people. But, I'm not black").

I like to think about this like compound interest. What skills can you invest time in, continuously & over time, that will make it impossible for people to catch up with you? Consequently, I'm not convinced "keeping skills cur

Feels like we are talking past each other :) Of course it's obvious to Palantir: they are the ones doing it. Of course it's not obvious to DOL: they are the ones with the lawsuit. Of course it obvious to anyone that demographi

I didn't grow up in the US. I have to say the biggest cultural shock in my ~15 years here has been the lack of freedom in day to day life. Ironic.

Anecdote: when my uncle died in an accident he didn't have a helmet and was with-in a mile of his house. Cops told us that there are more fatal accidents closer to home/in short runs because people don't pay as much attention

But how can one figure that out? Isn't enforcement of a law (through an arrest for example) the first indication that a crime might have occurred? If so, how to figure out if the 75% attribution is fair or just a result of selection&#x
