I never thought I had trauma, but this has been my exact experience with labeling, and I’ve recently begun working with an IFS therapist as well.

I like a version of this technique the best for curing writer’s block. When I sit down and try and write the “perfect paragraph”, I get paralyzed. But if I just start barfing out semi-coherent thoughts line by line, I find I’m able to get u

ACT therapy is nice and was an important step for me to develop more mindfulness, but not the full solution. I found ACT to be a bit like relying on willpower. There were only so many times I was “willing” to move forward with my feelings w

One thing that’s missing in video calls is eye contact. You both are looking at each other’s faces, which are not the camera. Seems like it would be possible to transform the person’s eyes so they’re looking straight forward, not down. This

It’s weird. Society has tried to influence me that money, wealth, status, career are beneficial. I was raised middle class. But I’ve never quite seen the point in all of it. All it’s really led to is a lifetime of beating myself up and ask

Could you say more about this? What historical events are you referring to? I consider myself a disaffected male, and am curious to understand my situation from a historical perspective.

This was my favorite video, too. Absolutely life changing. My other favorite video of his is on boundaries. “Why you can’t set boundaries with family and friends.”

What is a “dev shop”? How do I go about searching for one? FYI I’ve been a software engineer for like 5 years, but took the past 1.5 years off.

It’s crazy how much trust plays a factor in the success of open source. And if that trust is eroded, the whole system comes crumbling down.

This is crazy. The monetary system is fracturing, now the open source system could be fracturing. If I was Russia, I might start seeing the need to develop in-country versions of open source packages, as a matter of national security.

Regarding the “hi” ping, it would be funny to create a bot to auto respond with “hi”. And auto respond to “how are you doing” with “good”. The sender can now type their question.

The only exception I can personally think of, is when I fall really behind at work, and I am feeling a lot of shame over it. And I’m really just sending out an SOS in the hopes that someone shows some kindness back towards me, and really he

nohello.net seems aggressive to just respond with. I would just ignore the hi, until it becomes an issue, which causes a problem. At that point, I would follow up with them saying, “hey, in the future, could you include your request with th

I think perfectionism is rooted in a fear of rejection and ultimately a lack of confidence. Exposure therapy can help. So, practice intentionally shipping something with a missing feature, or intentionally getting rejected. Doing both of th

I haven’t used copilot, but don’t you specify what you want first, in comment form, then copilot spits it out? I get that you have to do subsequent editing, because it’s not perfect.

Hmm it intuitively seems like the editing part should be the easy part, because the output is basically a template, and you just need to fill it in, and tweak it a little bit… I get with code it’s a bit less so, but still, there are plenty

This gives me an idea. You know how you can break writing down into 2 phases: creative and edit? What if you did the creative part, braindumping all your ideas and vision into a word document. Then had an AI edit your incoherent story into
