At the end of the day it’s just a very large die casting machine. To switch out the part it is casting requires making new dies. It is expensive so you don’t want to be doing that a lot, but these machines are going to be probably doing 500

Not to mention the efficiency of converting the stored Hydrogen to power. It’s hard to beat the efficiency of a battery and electric motor.

Now that it’s literally all the same can we please get an iPad Pro that runs Mac OS when docked into a nice keyboard/trackpad base?? I would get rid of my non-work 13inch mbp if this was the case.

Besides the economic slowdown I suspect some of this is also the Model Y is eating into sales of the other 3 and this price adjustment is mostly to differentiate them a bit more.

Not sure I agree here. The Tesla technology does quite well with a camera based sensor suite and a moderately priced custom silicon. It is rapidly getting better and they are logging an order of magnitude more miles than Waymo which is stil

Theres a lot of B.S. in your post but I just wanted to point out that Elon constantly praises the Tesla and SpaceX teams on Twitter, Quarterly conference calls, Podcasts and in other investor presentations. There is for sure a cult of perso

The lack of dual power supplies and remote power on/off and good PXE support is crazy for a rack mount computer (won’t even dignify it by calling it a server).

Interesting that no one to my knowledge has built an architecture where sram is ‘memory’ such that it would be transparent to C code but no slower dram is used. 32MB is more than my 1998 computer had.

It will still be power hungry and mess up aerodynamics even if it is smaller. Tesla is looking at the entire picture of autonomous + EV which IMO is a better strategy.

I am sorry you are so misinformed. Lithium is a common abundant resource and battery packs are easily recycled but more importantly there is a financial incentive to do so. Manufacturing technology for cells is improving rapidly. Much fast

You don’t really have to be “rich” to afford this roof. It’s a totally sensible investment that actually pays for itself between 10-20 years and you can use a loan to finance it. It’s also very sensible for new home construction which is al

Not at all. A fast ferry from downtown NYC should take around 20 minutes to get to JFK. It would be easy for them to integrate a marine terminal there, just as they are going to do at LaGuardia airport. It’s a hell of a lot more practical

It depends what speeds make the motor run sub-optimally for a particular vehicle. The range 0-80 MPH is sufficient for almost all normal driving. If you want to make an efficient track car that can operate at high speeds optimally by all m
