Look all I gotta say is you’re in very good company. Insomnia is extremely common, your body is designed to have it and is super equipped to deal with sleep deprivation.

I've also struggled a lot with insomnia and the best advice I can give is: 1. See a therapist 2. Avoid taking sleep medication 3. Accept that you're not going to sleep when you aren't sleeping If you're not taking drugs

It takes me ~10 minutes to make beans/rice/frozen veggies. For comparison it takes 30-45 minutes to get food delivered.

In the US, you're asked your ethnicity, gender, and sexuality on every job application. Just saying.

> They're not the same, and don't belong together on the same roadway Yes > should ban bikes No You can build bike infrastructure. Until then bikes will share the roads, and drivers will have to live with it.

All of your comparisons assume that bikes and cars are the same, but they're not. A car weighs thousands of pounds, it has less visibility/manoeuvrability and goes much faster than a bicycle. The risk and responsibility with a c

N26 is regulated by BaFin and has a full German banking license; it's just as secure as your Deutsche Bank or Sparkasse account. They also must follow the same data privacy and security laws as those banks.

Every step in a project needs to go through long approval/permitting processes that cost a lot of time and money. This ignores the high cost of labor/materials in California. The only reason why the NYC subway, and the Chicago

Automation is certainly a big thing, but we still need people to care for the elderly, drive buses, clean public spaces, paint buildings, work on roads, take garbage, deliver goods, and so on. Some societies, such as Japan, are banking on a

The city of San Francisco spends far more on homeless and health services than the entire country of Germany. I don't get where this notion came from that the US/California/San Francisco does not have a welfare system.

SF sits at around 65 degrees all year round. I get it's not a tropical paradise, but it's certainly not cold compared to most places in the US.

Call me what you will, but I really dislike Lake Tahoe post-pandemic. It's always been a place primarily of second homes, but it definitely feels richer and snootier now... like Aspen.

Chicago manages to have the worst weather of any city on earth (hyperbole, kind of). In the summer it hits triple digits with humidity, and in the winter it's in the negatives with icy wind storms.

Front-end developer interviews are pretty hard, because you have to master the same algo puzzles back-enders do, but you're also expected to answer pop trivia for random JavaScript/browser quirks.

Maybe I should have clarified. Engineers are difficult to manage (in my experience) because they're smart and have leverage in their role; it's not a simple manager -> worker-bee relationship. It's nothing negative.

> engineers mainly want to be left alone to do their jobs Sounds like a happy path but what happens when things go wrong? If all engineers needed to do their jobs was for someone to leave them alone and let them do what they wanted there

Since I became an engineering manager myself, I find myself looking back with more sympathy to my past managers. Engineers are difficult people to manage.

The lowest gear on a 6-speed Brompton is 33.1 gear inches and with a 44T chainring it can go to 29.1. Considering how light the bike itself is, that's very reasonable! For reference to those who are unfamiliar with gear inches... My to
