Are people actually buying new landcruisers for African off-roading adventures? The 70's-80's models make sense but a bulky 2022 SUV that costs 90k before all other (necessary) upgrades, with an automatic gearbox and highly comput

I remember when Medium first came out, it was "all about the words". Today it couldn't be further from that. Medium articles are slow, janky, filled with pop ups and paywalls. The faster Medium dies the better.

Not really. I'm picturing short term, furnished apartments that you swap every week or two (like an AirBnb). This lifestyle is already popular among the younger generation; low stress, no ties, freedom to travel and explore. It's

I get quite a dystopian feeling from the new future this thread envisions. "Decentralization of living". My mind goes large companies like AirBnB buying up apartments en mass and individuals jumping from one temporary apartment to

California has the highest tax revenue in the union; both per capita and gross. Tax revenue is not an issue in California.

What if you want it to be red on hover? hover:text-red-500 What about just at the medium breakpoint? md:text-red-500 Only in dark mode? dark:text-red-500 Tailwind is much more powerful than inline styles.

I find the shifting in the IGHs to be super annoying because it destroys your cadence. You have to stop peddling, then shift, then start peddling again. Weight/efficiency are also definitely noticeable. Complexity is a weird thing. For

Actually, internal gear hubs predate the derailer system, but in the past 20 years IGHs have gotten much better and are making a come back.

Swine flu is controlled within farms. Deer don't live in farms and if controlling/surveilling their population was possible, then other diseases such as lyme wouldn't be a thing.

What are you suggesting exactly? Culling the white tail dear population across the USA?

I don't understand why people think the economic situation in the US is bad enough to warrant a civil war. This "prediction" doesn't seem to be based in any type of logic at all – mostly fantasy.

I'll say it again -- if these skills were something software engineers needed, there wouldn't be a need for services like Leetcode because SWEs would just learn these skills at their jobs.

This has to be the most sterile, lifeless living space I have ever seen. It's like they modeled it out of an airport lobby. I would personally rather live in an RV.

Exactly the same in the Bay Area with shelters. There's rules like no drugs, no pets, and strict curfews. And for many it's easier to just sleep in an encampment where no one bothers you, people bring you food, organizations bring
