What a good reason to use more precise language! The real issue is the news outlet who wanted to generate clicks for their story. We can all agree that "South African teens admissible airplane from kit and fly it" Is a bit less cl

Like maybe we can build this out. A common daemon for registering with. The concept would be very simple to build. I might start a github project. - Global daemon to register apps with. Apps could be installed system wide or per use. Think

I avoid electron apps because it is almost anti web. I would use apps built more like electron if they simply removed the electron part and replaced the app with a name for a namespace and simply shipped tht js/html/images along w

I wonder what happens if we take a square shot of a face, then use something like the deep fakes to generate different predicted views and then feed those in to the original system.

EDIT: guidelines As a note, I think there are probably better crypto technologies these days, but none of them do what pgp aimed to do, but rather we have a bunch of smaller tools that do small parts that pgp did. I am not going to send you

PGP is a protocol, there is nothing wrong with it. If you want to complain about good PGP based apps that is a entirely different argument (and it think that is what you are arguing). Signal is not a protocol, it is a application. It uses o

I am not trying to win a popularity contest. If you care about secure messaging, and want to be sure you about who you are talking to -- then you have to use something like pgp. I don't think the number of people using something invali

If you are using mpeg1 you can just dump the packets on the line. And if you want to get fancy you can read in a HQ stream and setup a beefy server to run 3 or 4 conversions to different bandwith classes and move clients up and down as requ

I used jsmpeg to live stream camera feeds from robots. There are a few others that do the same. In my case I wrote a custom go server to handle the multiplexing. It did fairly well, and was able to support something like 60 clients at a tim

And yet all of those bypass the hard part of validating the sender. These again trust the service. PGP is more than simply encryption. It provides a means of trusted identity. End to End encryption is pointless if you have no way to validat

Then there is no need to say OpenPGP is broken. Once you hand off the validation to a 3rd party that does nothing to validate other than a voting system of other people then you are done. You basically put your PGP keys on reddit and decide

Can we stop saying that pgp is busted and just talk about how the keyservers are the problem with how people decides to exchange keys ? I don't use key servers. So when I get an encrypted message from my friend I have no issues. Allowi

I think that actually means the notion of keyservers are fundamentally broken, not PGP. I don't need a key server for me to sign or validate that something was signed by who it said it was if exchanged my keys via a secure means.

This is all fine, and bubbles do pop. But look at the DJIA, nearly every point looking back looks like a bubble. So if bubbles pop do they drop to zero? Or can we say that while the highs we see today may drop compared to where they are now
