I make more than the average US programmer, don't have a degree, and don't have any student loans to pay off. Most places that "require" a CS degree don't actually, and I wouldn't want to work for any company that is so stuck up in BS burea

You don't "know". You just do your best. How do you "know" you're not just in the middle of a long running hallucination? You don't. You take what you believe to be true and move forward as best you can. Yes, you'll screw up, and yes you'll

no? Yes there's the edge case that isn't covered, of sacrificing the one for the many, but that's a dangerous slope to try and codify. Other than that, how does it not? At each step of your life "now" you attempt to do something that benefi

business is not a zero sum game. Companies in the same space can work together or play off of each other. Also, taking business from a competitor doesn't necessarily harm anyone. Maybe it harms the businesses bottom line but so what? If you

following that logic one should spew out all the thoughts in ones head even if you think they're of no good because they may be of some good to someone. Most people would agree that that's not a good strategy.

I've had that thought about going to the same old desk writing stupid code... typically just making rich companies richer and not making the world a better place in any way. Totally unfulfilling. BUT.... there's a difference between not lik

I'm fairly confident that this is not a "grey area". When something is specifically prohibited in a legally binding document that you agreed to / signed it is not "grey" it is, quite literally, "black and white". And, as the other posters h

In the US you don't have to declare income under (i believe) $500 from a single source in a given year. So if you earned 5,000 $1 payments, each from a different source you would have to declare NONE of them. If you earned 1,000 $100 paymen
