? Why wouldn't you want to automate tasks? Current level AI will be able to automate quite a bit, it just takes time to proliferate, there is a lot of inertia in organizations.

It's also a great way to filter out anyone who has any kind of commitment like kids, aging parents to take care of, or have health issues themselves that makes it hard to cram leet code non stop on top of a busy career. For companies t

Thanks, I'll check it out, it's a fascinating topic and can probably teach us how we can make AI think (or how it does think).

Yeah, most things lend themselves to visualizing, but even things that don't I have to visualize something, the answer doesn't just come to me unless I have something to look at if that makes sense. Let me ask, when you decide wha

Most coding is not rocket science, just drudgery. Still, 7/10 implies some very junior level tasks.

Is this the norm? I can have an internal dialog but I mainly visualize things, I'd say that 90% of my thinking is visual. I'm not even sure how you'd solve, for instance, an algorithmic problem without visualizing the process

Hype or not, evaluate the tech for what it is. Just because there's too much hype doesn't invalidate the tech. The hype is directionally correct, although the magnitude may be off. Or maybe not. We have very smart AI/RL resea

I just don't understand how you can look at the current state of AI and the rate of progress and think "this is just like the expert systems hype". "Just a pile of linear algebra", "just curve fitting", &q

I know this is controversial, but here's my take: self made rich people live in reality. Whatever ideas they have about reality will be tested relentlessly, otherwise they wouldn't have succeeded at business. Government bureaucrat

Maybe it's similar to Tinder. In the past you got a few local applicants and you made your pick, but now you get hundred of applicants, so you narrow your requirements while probably filtering out good matches, just like girls who filt

You don't think everyone saying they don't want kids because "I don't want to bring a child into this world" is making a moral statement?

I think, in particular the younger generations, have been let to believe that being pessimistic about the state of the world and it's future is some kind of moral virtue.

Unfortunately, AI could lead to more verbose everything, because it also enables us to distil huge amounts of text. Forgot where I read about this, but it has been shown that digitalization has enabled the tax code to go from something one
