No an obituary and discussions of a person’s passing must take into account their failings, especially their greatest ones. Otherwise we will begin to forget those mistakes and be doomed to repeat. In particular the failings that lead up to

You don’t get rewarded for questioning the state (or any large power) unfortunately, at least not in media attention or promotions. That said, of course he should have.

While I hate FB I also hate headlines like this, why poll the public on something the media affects? Just report what findings are and the effects. It’s like a couple months ago having headlines saying “more American’s (USA) are afraid of c

A far more believable source would be a university studying causes of depression. Literally anyone else not profiting off meat would be more believable though.

As others have said, Apple does this with only 13% share. The important point is Apple has to make money selling phones, that is their business model. Android's is making money in a number of other ways, mainly user's data.

I always figured they stuck with 10 because they wanted to change upgrade cycle/business model, and MacOS is stuck at 10 too so they won’t be “behind.” Then we got MacOS 11 and, well, here we are.

Always bugs me when a news source like this is so small it doesn’t have a Wikipedia listing. With only their “about us” to go by who funds them and what their angle is is hard to divine.

All these comments seem to live in a fantastical world where money doesn't corrupt or influence behavior. Police were paid to do a job and did it to the benefit of an oil company. You can't pay a detective to investigate a family

FB has money to buy the smartest developers, psychologist, and advertisers to make you buy stuff, keep you on their platform, and make you feel what they want you to feel. Is it as addictive as heroin? Probably not, but if they can do that

Last year a story like this would have more comments questioning the company's policy, or at least the ones that did wouldn't be down voted. Now it looks like times have changed a bit and more pro corporate winds are blowing...

I'm a vegan but also not a fan of lab grown meat, it may sway some people but ultimately plants give enough that any special meat replacement product is just a diversion from the plentiful non-meat-centric cuisines and meal choices out

Yeah, and perhaps someone who knows rust well could argue some things are easier to do right in rust. For example, in the second bullet, pass readers could be more of the norm in libraries since rust in a systems programming language. Third

It seems like for any tech company to be successful and sustainable it has to destroy the openness and community it was born from. I discovered couch surfing right as my wandering days came to a close and I feel I sorely missed out.

Delta was the dominant variant only by end of July so the data set for the 0.1 number could have been based mostly on a virus which is 2.5x less deadly. We're now facing an endemic virus which, even with vaccination, approaches (or cou

In all these cases if you asked a human for their initial gut response I imagine they’d make the same type of mistakes as GPT3, the difference is if you have someone a minute to think about it and review they wouldn’t.
