If it did get lowered to affect normal people it'd only be from the efforts of rich people to poison the well against the taxes.

It's actually true if you interpret it as an abusive family. Boundaries aren't respected, always put company's interest above yours, if there's a culture problem (say harassment) it's actually the victim's prob

I saw a post on NIH studies showing possible benefits and people dismissing it because it wasn't a preponderance of evidence. Totally valid to dismiss a selected sample but made me realize there was more of a basis for its usage than,

And the Falcon rockets are already approved and working now right? So they have a viable way to launch them anyways, it's not like their hands are tied.

I'm sorry but better energy storage and electric cars for the middle class isn't going save us. It's not progress, it's a distraction along the way to ecological collapse.

I disdain the owners of both but Bezos (fairly) seems to get a bit more ire here. The Verge’s piece elaborated that SpaceX hasn’t decided between two configurations and want approval for both even though they will only choose one, so everyo

Substantial how? Apple doesn’t sell ads and I’m pretty sure that antithetical to their business model, if they did their advantage in other ways (privacy which sucks anyways) would dry up.

I'm not sure "only twice as bad" paints an accurate picture. - Herd immunity is much harder. Calculated as 1 - 1/r0 where r0 is defined in relation to transmissibility. So if r0 = 3 that's ~66% need to be immune to

Here I’m referring specifically, and only, to Afghanistan. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. If our intentions were ever fully or even mostly pure anywhere else that’s a whole different can of worms.

Perhaps the US’ intentions were never good and they were never capable of “liberating” anyone there. It really seems like no matter when they pulled out this would have happened.

I think the tragedy of 9/11 is distinctly different from this one. That one was covered non stop by media networks and lead to titanic shifts in the US and to US foreign policy. Comparing emotional states between now and then seems pre

Life expectancy has already lowered quite a bit from the pandemic we can't put a lid on, and when (if) that settles down cataclysmic climate change will continue its work. Sorry but the future seems quite bleak.

US’s culture has a lot of focus on one’s self and the steps one should take to get themselves better. Little focus on how awful systems or companies cough like Google cough are the one’s with the issues, not us.
