Not mentioned in this blog post is CoreOS, one of the leading operating systems in this category. I'm happy to see the variety of operating systems coming out lately.

Mostly grep on a single server. But Kibana, Elasticsearch and Logstash work well in a distributed environment.

That's the point here. Drivers will be tempted into a false feeling that the car is driving itself, just because it accelerates, decelerates and steers. MB has the same functionality, and I actually worry that it would cause even mor

The newer Mercedes-Benz system will actually steer the car to keep it following the car in front, while in slow enough traffic (< 37 MPH).

Well, read the article. The claim is that requirements were still changing 4 days before the launch. That's not waterfall, that's just no process at all.

3-4 releases per year should be a red flag, but unfortunately it's atually pretty common in enterprise environments. Hopefully they are shipping code much more frequently, and packaging it up and calling it a "release" every

You say "it's not an ageism problem" but them go on to define an ageism problem. Your comment defines a stereotype of older people, claiming they cling to loyalty and have management styles incompatible with startup culture.

You aren't suggesting that it scales easier on the server than on the mobile client, are you? Nothing would scale better for this app than putting the logic on the client -- it's a customer's phone communication with an Appl

I disagree with your last paragraph and caution anyone reading to think hard about your statement. Working with a co-founder who isn't as committed as you are will be trouble from day one. Ultimately you will end up with disagreement

So... it's real. It's a piece of paper required to travel internationally. It's not virtual. A driver license isn't a virtual document stating you can legally drive a car, it's just a document stating you can leg

Hey, I'm the other cofounder of LookIO. Yeah, that's a pretty good summary of how the visual assist part works. We have some plans on extending it with more than just a "tap here" indicator, but don't plan on turning it into a full remote

The iPad isn't just a "really big iPhone". Have you spent much time using one? It's familiar because it runs the same OS, but the experience is unique to the iPad. I agree with your statement that the ecosystem has a lot to do with the s

It's not fair to make assumptions like this. I have a Google App Engine app which doesn't push put a lot MBs each day, but does use a fair amount of CPU, and I'll pay for it. It's not a poorly designed service, it's a service which doesn'

We've put Nginx in front of GAE and it works without any issue. I haven't tried any other methods such as Varnish though. We aren't really throwing too much traffic at the GAE app which is "behind" Nginx, but we fully expect it to handle

But Redis should have at least as much RAM as you have data and will only use the data from RAM. You cannot swap or store it on a slower disk, while Mongo can use a disk file. Redis can backup or journal to disk, but this is just so the da
