That would be truthfulness to the training material, I guess. If you train on Reddit posts, it’s questionable how true the output really is. Also, 100% truthfulness then is plagiarism?

To be fair, we don’t need infinite years/generations to select for favorable traits. Such a selection process might already be underway - obesity lowers fertility, so there is pressure towards not being obese. IMO the next generation w

The lactose adaption took a couple thousand years to develop, no? While the last famines in developed countries took place less than 100 years ago. Feeling less hungry does feel like an elegant solution to the blatant oversupply humans are

Do they really solve the hard problems though? For me, the LLMs solve the low level problems. Usually I need to figure out an algorithm, which is the actual problem, and finally give some pseudo code to the LLM and surrounding code so it ca

I‘ve worked for over a year, almost full time, on an internal Flutter app that never saw the light of day (maybe later, if the stars align). Many apps just get their support section revamped with Flutter because there’s no need for that to

My hypothesis is that the scenarios the SQLite team has setup don’t particularly exploit the fact that the SQLite metrics become more favorable the more files are accessed.

Usage is laid out well in the docs, I‘m not sure GP has read them. IMO it’s obvious that many use cases have been kept in mind. Defining a use case != accommodating a use case

How would a custom language differ from what we have now? If you mean obfuscation, then yeah, maybe that makes sense to fit more into the window. But it’s easy to unobfuscate, usually. Otherwise, I‘m not sure what the goal of an LLM specifi

TIL, thanks for posting. The workflow I was sketching out is simpler though: Render a legacy game or low fidelity modern game as-is, and run it through a diffusion model in real time.

The world model can still be rendered in very low res, and then the diffusion skin/remaster is applied. And this would also be an exciting route to go at remastering old games. I‘d pay a lot to play NFS Porsche again, with photorealism

A used Dacia ICE is quasi unbeatable, you just can’t compare apples with oranges.

Are you saying a new EV will ever be cost competitive with a used gas car? If so, I disagree, unless heavy penalties are imposed on using an ICE.

While rooted in actual use cases, I agree that often the GoF and other patterns are applied when there’s no need. My guiding principle nowadays is deletability/unpluggability - structuring things in a way that removing a component or b

How do you see our profession evolving until and past your retirement age? Are you not worried that, besides the LLM revolution (and whatever comes next), ageism will cause you to be out of a job at say 60 at the latest?

I think they say French (the language), but that might be for people outside the EU. German is notably missing from their list, though it’s a bigger market for Apple than French.
