I think this is a misunderstanding. Microsoft didn’t ask IBM something for logging users in in the DOS days. They wanted a way to reset via the keyboard. IBM provided that with Crtl-Alt-Del. Windows didn’t use this for anything until NT in

I know this is going to be unpopular, but my family spends more on the Haagen Dazs because it's one of the only actual real ice creams without the guar gum and other fillers. I looked at the ingredients of so many brands in the grocery

Not an attendee. However, a client hired several older people who rejuvenated their careers with coding bootcamps and I find them to be extremely competent developers. Recommend.

I do not agree with the trend of disclosing income to recruiters. It can only serve to harm your prospects. I know some people that are closer to retirement age who realize that they may not find a new job making what they were previously m

The best feature of vim is its ubiquity; I feel at home on almost any computer. I find myself shying away from anything too specialized that could become a crutch, maybe to my detriment.

Another unmemorable, ambiguous product name from Microsoft. This one actually contains "Laptop" -- maybe the next will be "Surface Computer"?

Containers compartmentalize runtimes with their dependencies, eliminate library and version conflicts. That's just one benefit.

So much time spent optimizing my system to provide as much "conventional memory" so I could run a performant BBS in 640K, with all the drivers and such. It's hard to imagine now.

Microsoft convinced IBM to use a single message queue despite protest from IBM. Perhaps they were purposely sabatoging the effort, as they clearly wanted their 386 fork (which became Windows NT) to have the upper hand.

Microsoft and IBM co-wrote OS/2 initially, then Microsoft unveiled Windows using a lot of the ideas they came up with together. Classic Microsoft! When they split, IBM kept the 286 fork (which became 2.0) while Microsoft kept the 386 f

That's just a misleading label on the 1 bootable disk to start the installer itself. You really do need many of the other 20+ disks to install the OS. I had this exact set of floppies.
