Less egregious but still awful: updates that then have ngen randomly consuming half your cpu for hours because ms is too cheap to make native .net binaries remotely.

Ugh. This looks like MS trying to one-up Material Design (itself already on the rich side), and in so doing I think they've gone a step too far. It does look good, in a sci-fi movie UI kind of way. But it would be a nightmare if many o

If you want to work on this the analog way, one thing that helped me is mantras. It's actually very simple - if you really want to hold on to something then boil it down to 5 words or so, and mentally repeat them until they feel like w

I use NancyFX on the old .NET/Mono for that purpose and it works well. I keep hoping to switch to Core and it keeps not happening, but the old way seems to have a lot of life left in it.

The product looks super useful, thanks for your efforts and congrats! Your site is sorely lacking a good FAQ though. I just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what languages you support, looking for a roadmap, trying to figure out if I c

Anecdata: I'm all for social breakfast and dinner. But I prefer to eat lunch by myself, maybe with a good book. In this way lunch is a pause where I can slow down and recenter for the afternoon. And I don't think anything is wrong

This is a common phenomenon that's not very well known outside of immigrant communities. My family emigrated to the US from Russia in the mid 80s and quickly went hard-right, as did most of their cohort. Same for many Chinese immigrant

In addition to the functional stuff, C# has a lot of syntactic sugar that I wouldn't associate with a "boring" language. If you aggressively use all the syntactic sugar from the latest version of C# and compare that to simila

Why? Developers are a small minority of MS's users, and MS gains way more in terms of adoption and opinion-shaping from being on the good side of devs than they gain from the (unusual, unrepresentative) data that comes from spying on t

I also came to appreciate MVVM through WPF and was sad to see it go. The thing is, MVVM has really flourished on the web - though under various other names. I'm working with VueJS right now, and it's my favorite iteration of MVVM

I see a free or nearly free "developer edition" of Windows 10 incoming. It won't have some of the enterprise-y features (bloat) of existing enterprise editions, but it will be capable, feature-rich, free (maybe you'll ha

Azure storage queues are basically "queues lite" while the service bus is more full featured, think rabbitmq. And the portal does indeed suck. The cli, on the other hand, is top notch.
