There's a lot of wisdom in your list, but I would take issue with the men/women point, that one is a bit of a straw man. No one reasonable is advocating for a mandated perfect 50/50 split. The reasonable take on gender equali

While I don't accept work or labor as intrinsically good or necessary, IMO occupation is. Feeling needed and useful is central to having a sense of purpose, and without that, you get solipsism, anomie, and eventually social unrest. In

A lot of young Israeli artists and designers are in Berlin too. When I go outside here, what I hear is a mix of German, English, Turkish, Italian, and Hebrew - not a mix I ever thought I'd encounter.

Here in Neukölln Berlin, 4 weeks is normal for whatever DSL provider you choose, O2 tech support treats you with utter contempt when THEY fuck up, and connection quality is all over the place. Cable is barely available.

Yep, surprisingly good. My only criticism is of the implied simplicity of the "backend". In reality the choices are vast with a huge long tail. That's because backend, as opposed to frontend or mobile, is really just good old

The vendor's way of doing things is just one of many possible ways, the vendor is often not right, the vendor often has their own agenda, the sky will not open and smite me if I don't go the vendor's way.

At least for me, I have a high-sensitivity gut that sometimes verges into IBS territory, if I mistreat it. I can't tolerate beans or similar in any quantity, so I'm left with pretty much tofu as a non-meat protein source. And I ha

It's also very simple "sour grapes" thinking. Most people can intuit that knowledge leads to status and privilege, so when they don't have it themselves, their ego suffers when adjacent to those that do have it. So, in a

I have the feeling that a big problem with VS is less about raw performance and more about old school blocking code, ironic considering how good C/F# are for async programming. VS just tends to "freeze" where other IDEs would

For dead-simple parallel execution of a handful of jobs, IMO nothing beats mapping data to tasks with Linq and then "await Task.WhenAll". And if they have to share data, use something in System.Collections.Concurrent.
