Nobody is born with the skills to open a door or push a button. I have a <1yr old that still can't do either of those. That is something you learn. Metro is just a different type of UI that you might want to learn. "Can I click on all t

I really hope that this will be a consumer thing only. Enterprise IT will not like having to upgrade & test all their systems each year.

There is a list of known issues with the latest nightlies[1]. I was talking about the international version of S2 (i9100), because that is what I tried CM10 on a few weeks ago. [1] http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/CyanogenMod10:GT-I91

The problem with the CM project is most of the devices it tries to support are not open source. What I mean is that the drivers for the radio, GPU, audio, etc. chips are not available in source form like Android itself (via AOSP). In order

About a year ago I read a paper that listed a number of those "Jewish Problems" (ambiguous or hard problems given at entrance exams). For those interested - http://arxiv.org/abs/1110.1556

You can sideload store apps in Windows 8 relatively easy. What you need is the .appx file for the app and powershell. Using the PS prompt you can sign up for a developer license (free, renewed each month) and deploy the .appx file containin

And nothing will change. At least not until someone does this with malicious intent - script kiddie A knocks out big site, or a censoring state decides that it should block a free speech site from the entire Internet.

I wish Google would add time zone conversions to their search. I had to resort to WA[1] to find out what time is the event in Europe. [1] https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=10+am+PT+to+GMT

BTW they give you reports, but only if the crash was in an already approved app that is in the Store[1]. My point was that such information should be available during the certification process as well. [1] http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsst

I can relate a bit about this article and the Windows Store submission process - I have been using it since the end of July. The requirements mentioned in the post (1.2, 3.2, 3.8, etc.) are part of a big document that tries to clearly outli

Most probably the criminals just bought/obtained PIN pads, modified them and replaced the ones in the stores when the cashier was not looking. Not so hard to do as the pads are usually on a cord and connected with a RJ (like a phone jack).

Really hoped that it will be priced lower than that. Now it's very uncertain if this will be a hit with the Windows Store Apps so few and developers still not convinced about the platform as well. It's still $100 cheaper than the 32GB iPad

I have been using Win8 as a main OS for the past 4 months. I can't seem to find anything I need that was there in Win7 and missing in the new version. I love the new keyboard shortcuts (esp. Win+X, A). Metro is by no means a requirement - t

I am a bit skeptical about the price. MS already said that Surface RT will be comparatively priced to similar tablets -like the iPad/Asus Transformer etc. These sell for ~$500. I would LOVE it if it actually comes for $200 but it's highly

In windows 8 the smartscreen filter is part if the OS and not just IE. Even if you download unsigned code with another browser, trying to run it will result in the same nasty warnings.

What about in-app ads? Lots of Android games have built-in ads that bring revenue for the developer without the need for the user to purchase anything. I remember that the original Angry Birds used to be free on the Android Market but displ

They finally fixed the user agent! It used to be CrMo instead of Chrome, which broke a lot of sites. Back to Chrome now (with "Mobile" suffix to distinguish it from the desktop/tablet build) and the sites work.

It all depends on the target market - for example if you are making a site for gamers, you should look at the Steam HW survey, where 1920x1080 is used by 25% of people. 1366x768 is a distant second with 15%. Source: http://store.steampower
