Does that really matter when cooking? Whether the recipe calls for 360 or 350 Fahrenheit shouldn’t make a bug difference. Even when making a roast, one Fahrenheit more or less, does it matter? I suspect that the precision you gain is lost

I think you are missing broadcom on that list. But for real, why is Broadcom so bad?

Personally I use it to stop certain apps from phoning home or auto-updating, as I manage them with from Homebrew Cask. There are so many apps which don’t need online access, but still send usage pings or check for updates.

Recently a young orangutan died in our zoo. The mother carried it around for several days before laying it to rest. Our zoo has a special area for apes that is built in with research mind. Scientists from the Max Planck institute can hide a

Well. I don’t expect doctors to bring their own scalpel, construction workers their own hammers, firefighters their own hoses. If you want to employ me, please provide me with the tools to do the job properly. An ergonomic keyboard, mouse,

Thanks for the detailed account! Best of luck with this ongoing thing. To me it is interesting how we are able to train certain things with enough focus, but also how hard it is. I recently “trained” myself to accept the taste of fennel and

Been using a different mail provider for 5 years. Just the other month google deleted my gmail account (had it set up to delete after a year of no-login) It is quite easy to migrate: 1. get a new mail account 2. forward everything from your

For blocking I use Pi-hole https://pi-hole.net/ and unbound. I like the simple interface of the the Pi-Hole, point it to the locally running unbound which is configured to use several DoH providers I trust.

Well, your comment was: > The German subsidiaries of those companies, in Germany run by German citizens, still traded in Germany yes. That sounds a bit simplistic, of course if the German government ceases their operation and severs ties

I like the Philips wake up lights. They start to increase brightness 20 min before your set time, emulating sunrise. Using them with a radio station because then every morning sounds different.

Funnily it renamed the „folders“, technically labels, in IMAP. So I am using imapfilter to sort emails and had to change Trash -> Bin in my rules when I switched the GMail Interface Language.

In Germany you can put a „no ads“ sticker on your mailbox and it works. In case someone puts ads into your mailbox anyhow, you can report them to the consumer protection agency and they risk a fine. This actually works.

Anecdotally from the generation of people that lived in Eastern Germany, especially in rural areas, a sense of community, solidarity and purpose is what went missing after the Berlin wall came down. I have never thought of having more women

What do you want to do? When I studied CS, we started at the physics level working up our way: transistors, logical gates, 7 segment displays, von-Neumann architecture, ALUs etc. All of this is interesting, but I consider it to be a history

That is actually amazing! I just hope that it can be scaled and will be affordable. I would still argue that we should look into reducing our consumption, as other environmental impacts like water consumption are still considerable. Anyhow:
