No, it seems like we're talking about the same thing. Also, the iPhone wasn't designed to be an mp3 player + phone. It was designed to be a really good smartphone.

But you make these two arguments with hindsight. 1. Creating the iPad was not a good bet that it would create profits. Microsoft had tried pushing tablet computing for a decade, and they lost a lot of money doing so. The iPad was a gamble.

Yea mean "every self-taught PROGRAMMER should read". Computer science is very different than day-to-day "real world" programming. Computer science is more akin to applied mathematics... its the study of algorithms and computation. What you

Well yea, I didn't notice anything "bad". It took some adjustment initially to move my clock, but I pretty much get up at 5:30-6:00 AM and can get out of bed alert and refreshed. I am still getting 8 hours of sleep a day. I can only assume

"But I'm a night owl!" I'm glad the author of the post recognized that it is possible to switch from being a night owl to an early riser. Anecdotally, I am a night owl... if it were not for work and kids, I would sleep late and wake early.

I just think the name wasn't well thought out. Cherry pop reminds me of "popping cherries"... the colloquial term for taking ones virginity.

Yes. You are advocating various alternatives, citing that they're safe and useful based on the anecdotal experience of a handful of bloggers. The article would be much more credible if you backed it up with some solid science (has there bee

The fact that these sleep cycles have been used by "bloggers" for a few months and that they are still "healthy" does not give me the warm fuzzies. It would take a much longer experimental time frame, under more rigorous scientific study, t

This is amazing. Currently there are 12000 people tuned to watch a man program live. Who would have thought that would ever happen... live streaming programming.

I'd be interested to see some benchmarks of some computationally expensive applications vs. running them on Linux or another OS. How much gains are you making by optimizing the OS?

You can't put it that way. Part of understanding the effects and experience of drug use requires the actual experience of drug use, unlike studying cancer. It's like someone criticizing the taste of a mango without ever experiencing eating

Just curious, how well did your card game scale? How many concurrent users could it handle? And could you easily balance the load by firing up more servers if you needed to? The reason I ask is that everything sounds all good on paper, bu

It seems to me that this story has a bit of sensationalism in it? It doesn't mention the engineer's salary. At that kind of offer, I'm going to assume he's a super-star performer. So his salary is probably on the far right of the bell-cur

What a great idea and site! Great execution. Are you making money through this via affiliate sales? With a little more polish and popularity, this site could make a ton of cash that way.

Perhaps it's because you're making an ad hominem argument... which is rarely interesting or valid. Debating the points and issues of the article would probably not get downvotes.

It seems like the author forgets that the medium of code IS text. Not graphics, or sound, or a 3D model... but code is text, and for now text is the most concise representation of code. But actually, a textual representation means that you
