Not defending Sequoia, but I'm pretty sure that they have lost their money as well -- private equity always invests along with their investors.

I hope that swiftness of these charges will slightly diminish all these voices that keep repeating everywhere that 'the man' is on it with him, that the media defend him etc.

They only admitted that Chernobyl happened when elevated levels of radioactivity were detected by other countries and you could not hide it anymore. That was not the case of this lake and the related Mayak plant disaster -- world learned ab

You're very good. No, I have not seen your post. I was coding away and genuinely was thinking about my eyesight and started adjusting my ambient lightning. Then I realized that I actually have no idea what I'm doing, so I have dec

I had this realization while in snowy mountains. All is white and suddenly I thought that I had a lock of hair in my line of sight.

My case exactly! Also mid 30's and I also have floaters unfortunately and according to my trustful ophtalmologist, there is little to be done about it. It is not that I have a problem per se, but this condition made me realize that my

Also been doing this for years. And always wondered about possible disadvantages, or is there any reason why it is not used like this by everyone?

As a former Tesla owner (one year ago), their claims are just ridiculous. How can Tesla talk about FSD, when they cannot resolve even simple cruise control on a street that is not a highway with a separator. More like FFS than FSD

Yes, they can do that but cannot stay, the collateral being their family in NK.

For me, the only metric is: can people leave from there? People cannot leave North Korea, ergo it sucks.

On one hand, I admire the US system where a class lawsuit can punish even the largest corporations, like here. On the other hand, I am terrified to travel there fearing something like this will happen and I will rot in jail for some Kafkaes

I wear a helmet, laws or not. But when I occasionally don't, I notice that I am way more careful, e.g. more mindful of a curb with a metal post that I ride by. I wonder if this effect is permanent, if I would stop wearing a helmet fore

I have not used SO since I've started using ChatGPT, it is so much easier to get to the correct answer and it can even be tailored to my specific example. So double whammy for SO which makes me feel really sad.

That's what I mean, who cares about moral ground when one's own security is on the plate. See how quickly Finland and Sweden dropped their support of Kurds when it was obstructing (via Turkey) their NATO ascension. Even the Kurds

I meant that we need to buy our oil somewhere, for now. And unlike Russia they are far away and not an imminent danger. So better be friends with them, even though we don't like it.

Ok, I see and accept your point. But still after your clarification, I see nothing wrong with west cheering the revolution. a) It is our side b) It is impossible to enforce 'not cheering', one slip is enough to be used against you

The 'West' might support the protesters, sure, but the effort is still negligible to the will of Iranians. What I read in your comment is that the ppl of Iran have no agency, all is just conflict between the 'West' and w

I don't get this obsession with mainstream 'the man' controlling the narrative. For example the FT slams him so much it's boring. They even have a (great) data driven article about how he sucked at LoL.

This especially sucks if you are the middle manager. You know that what you are asked to do is a complete BS but you have to somehow communicate it to you underlings (who see through the BS) without using sarcasm or snarky remarks.

I too am critical of data science, but I think that this is a bit unfair. The scientific part could be called just 'statistics'.

I've been a 'data scientist' for years, and I probably will be again at some point as it is the biggest item in my CV. It was in a company, where data science was not the bread and butter, but just something extra to show to

The important thing is also that you do not have to breath the fumes in the city. This applies well to EVs -- they might more polluting (all in) in the first years then ICEs, but the pollution does not happen where you live.
