Yes! It is inconsistent, you think that finally reason prevailed and they nuked the 'feature', but then it appears randomly again.

I know, but on the other hand you have many Swiss who, when spoken to in perfect Hochdeutsch, prefer to reply in English. No way you're gonna win over these people with autotranslate to what they consider a 'foreign' language

Adding to my previous comment, in Switzerland, people speak very specific Swiss German, yet the videos are autodubbed to 'hoch' (standard) German. It's a bit of an exaggeration, but it is as if a person is Lisbon would get th

It is insane to me that you cannot turn it off in the setting even as a premium user. Or better yet, make this opt-in for everyone. I live in a German speaking country, yet my native language is other and German is almost never preferred wh

I don't even see any inofficial statements, which is puzzling, this must touch a huge amount of users.

Let's not forget defaulting the audio to an automatic translation. That is so dumb that I still a have hard time believing that there is not an option to disable this. They don't even get any ad revenue out of this, it is just idi

This is so well put, I have much admiration for Germans, but they just feel so gullible.

Agree fully. I got livid when traveling in a business class long haul flight with the Lufthansa Group, and was forced to watch ads on the screen in front of me. No option to turn the screen of (which was later enabled, during the flight). I

This is every other ATM in Prague (euronet is the name I think), they helpfully convert it for you with like 30% markup. These people (and the lawmarkers that permit this) should be publicly flogged.

To contrast a bit with other comments, he is very much disliked in eastern Europe. He was always pushing his multipolar worldview and not respecting that the Poles, Czechs etc. do not want to live under the Soviet/Russian 'pole&#x

Same for me. I realize that he is also pro-imperialism and would probably be worse for Europe than Putin (Russia would be more efficient) But him facing jail with an upright stance shows a lot of skin in the game, you cannot ignore that.

I'm pretty sure he means Slovakia. Not sure about any minister, but the policemen is true and there was the Kovac case -- maybe not minister, but president's son.

Replying here bc max comment depth. Absolutely not, boffinAudio, the other way around! It was you who brought US into this discussion, I did not. I am a citizen of a former satelite country of the Soviet Union and I do not want this situati

wow But ok, I'll give you that -- I prefer a unipolar world with US hegemony or whatnot rather than a multipolar world where I have to live in the Russian part (which by the way absolutely never respected the nations that it had subjug

Fair enough. Of course, that is a completely legit view that I also partly hold. However, this author is known for his looking up to a regime that is way worse (or 'not better form' as you say).

No, it is a hidden way of saying that small countries have no choice of their own and they have to belong to some pole. And as luck would have it, the closest pole to central Europe would be Russia! How can someone not want that?

Did not say this article in particular, but its author. Other commenters posted links. But basically he is pushing the Russian whataboutist narrative.

The author hates the post-totalitarian system of the Czech Republic ('89-) and has very pro-Russian views. Just be aware before wasting your time with his article.

I disagree on the cruise control, especially in Europe where the streets are narrower, it constantly thinks that it will crash and applies brakes. I sold my Tesla because of this

Yes, the regional products in Europe for sure. But a whole country and all products? I can imagine that Japan would do something like this, as it is usually synonymous with quality (as Swiss is) and they do not want brand dilution.

I once at party spoke with a Swiss lawyer that focuses on these infringements. He told me: 'If you label something as "Swiss" and a certain percentage is not actually made here, you will eventually get a letter from me'.

I have an older BMW with ACC and had a Tesla Model 3 as well. The ACC on the BMW rocks, it reacts quicker than I do when a car slows in front of me, but never vigorously breaks. Phantom breaking is unheard of. It only needs attention when t
