Most of these are painfully obvious, but number 7 really rings true. I don't think any media in any other country is as hysterical and quick to judge as the media is in the United States, which results in a mass wave of delusion and fear. I

However, brushing after meals with fluoridated toothpaste solves the problem. Again, the (local) government(s) choose(s) to legislate rather than educate. Shouldn't one be allowed the freedom to choose whether he/she wants fluoridated water

My parents up until 2010 did not switch to a high-speed ISP and continued to use AOL dialup until 2008, which is when they switched to NetZero which was marginally faster but far cheaper. In some ways, perhaps dial-up is a better propositio

Another thing that is not practiced in Europe (to my knowledge) and allowed in the US is fluoridation of water. There is scientific proof that fluoride is a potent neurotoxin[1], and yet the government continues to insist and require fl

I'm a bit saddened that nearly ten years after we reached 3GHz, desktop clock speed increase has come to a halt. I know that FSB speeds are irrelevant now more than ever with multithreading and multi-core architectures, but the performance

Gimp is really one of the most incredible pieces of open-source/free software I have used. But, it's primary advantages (open source, powerful) are what have led to its limited use. Like many open source projects, the interface is designed

It's sad that so many software companies think it's a good idea to sell a "service" and not a tangible copy of bits and bytes. It's less hassle to buy CS6 once and be done with it and upgrade when you want to, rather than keep renewing subs

To be honest, I'm really sick of "flat design." All it seems like is a fad that should (hopefully) boil away soon. When you make something flat, you make it more aesthetically pleasing, but at the same time, you take away many visual cues t

I absolutely despise the term "developer". It insinuates that we, hackers, write code because we want to "develop," not because it's a fun hobby or because we want to find practical solutions to everyday problems. As pg put it, "'Engineer'

I didn't leave the Linux world because I didn't like Ubuntu dictating a desktop environment to me. I left because OS X suits my needs better than any Linux distribution (except perhaps OpenSUSE) could.
