Another great example how a couple of traditional unix tools (if you want to count perl and gnuplot as traditional unix tools) can replace 250 lines of high-level language code ( https://github.com/orf/gping/blob&#x

This mentality is also called: "if you have a hammer, every problem is a nail". I guess this paradigm is much older then programming :-)

Absolutely! For me it feels as if Mac OS repeats the errors of MS Windows Vista and 10. For instance, the horrible telemetry as well as the suboptimal "one interface for touch and mouse pointer" paradigm.

I think this comment thinks still too much "within" the box. Sure, there is a large class of programming languages with similar idioms where mostly only the syntax is different. I think the rise of multi paradigm languages makes t

Can you explain me the overhead costs you have when contracting? Of course you have to pay for your office and equipment yourself. You also might have to pay (more) for health and social insurance, depending on the country where you live in

What's the state of the art with the next generation of JS frameworks, namely the ones without virtual DOM, such as svelte? My feeling since a few years is that this is where the new things happen (This impression is based on poor perf

Yes, you are right. Academia is subject to a wag agreement and 100% E-13 corresponds to roughly 4000€ gross (brutto) and 2370€ net. Cf. http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/tv-l/allg/

I don't see "print(x)" being in any way worse then "print x". If you want to save some characters, you can always just write the symbol in the REPL line: >>> x=42 >>> x 42 This alr

The nice thing is that such beauties of interfaces are rediscovered by the younger generations. The rise of the REPL interface for python is a great example which makes this language feel a lot like BASIC on stereoids. And the notebook inte
