I’m a bit confused with these comments, as if he is some low level engineer. He is on the board, he obviously talks to other people in the upper levels. It’s not just online mob whatsoever, you literally will be facing the people who aren’t

In non-WhatsApp ubiquitous places, “what’s your IG?” is the standard when you meet someone in the wild. You can always go with “oh, just WhatsApp me!”, but then again you’re still on Meta. I’m talking about age range till like 35ish, probab

I don’t think so, to be honest. The landscape for media consumption is so much different than 10-15 years ago. Without any supporting data, I have a hunch that, shows are mostly watched within a year of its original air date. New shows aren

You’re absolutely correct. Highway was built around 1941 though, NA was still building itself up during that time. In an ideal world, we would be building up new cities, new rail lines, new infrastructure and etc., but I guess the momentum

We used to discuss this back in university days! NA is extremely allergic to copy something that’s been done extremely well in the east (e.g., high speed rails) and instead tries to come up with some “cool better way” of doing things. After

He’s not exactly in the age group, but quite a lot of young people have auto-capitalization disabled on their phone. Basically aesthetics. At the end of the day, as time goes on, the methods of communications change as well. It does not exa

I believe it. Very insignificant data point but - I've worked for small scale startups and larger scale enterprises, and in both cases you can see bots and crawlers trying to do random stuff. I don't think it was actually %70+ of

It is just… rain? I’m very confused if I’ll be honest. Your jacket gets wet, or you carry an umbrella so you stay dry? It rains 7-8 months of the year here, I genuinely never thought of it as a reason to drive so might be the wrong person t

How do you think a significant chunk of people outside of US live? Commute in public transit within city limits, go camping in your car… The problem in NA, we planned public transit so bad that it is very inconvenient to do anything. The se

I think I am miswording the question — I don’t care about fixing the trends. My worry us to be prepared for the case if we can’t fix the problem. Basically “how we can prepare society to live with less younger population?”.

If women want to be sexually liberated wage slaves, we have to respect that as well. I guess, I am sexually liberated guy who is a wage slave, there’s no difference. We should definitely make it more possible for women to have an easy life

Fair enough. My point was, in developed world, if you’re poor you might not have kids because of its costs. If you’re rich, why would you have a kid if they might experience extreme problems in the near future? And it’s also hard for me to

From what I've read so far, the data doesn't really support that argument. Even in my circles, the richer the couple, the less likely they have kids and so on. I don't think it's just "if you have money you'll

There is some discussion about population decrease trends, and I actually had a question about it yesterday ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38207457#38212649 )! I guess, I’ll ask here again — is there anyone working on

I totally get this, but my question was not about trying to reverse the trend, but how are we preparing to handle it if we fail to reverse it. Since no country has been able to reverse it so far, it doesn’t give me much hope that we can get

That sounds like an idea, but you still need more people "younger than yourself" to help you out, no? But I agree about "having kids so they can take care of you" being a very selfish reason to have kids. Due to multiple

The way I am reading this comment chain — you will never be able to prove whether there is a reality outside of your own. The logic and whether solipsism is socially acceptable does not really matter in this context. I don’t buy into that i

I agree, and I don’t get why the whole conversation is framed around Berghain. The other clubs are losing customers as well, and many of them don’t have very strict bouncers. That’s a bigger problem imo.
