I hate charts. There is no standard way to present data so you have to learn and think about how to process the data you see. Whereas a simple column of numbers in percentages or whatever is almost instant to process as it requires no more

He comes across as a great guy in all the interviews I have seen of him. Chilled but still excited about the amazing things he has worked on. On a related note I absolutely love the Computerphile videos with Professor Brailsford. I could

Indeed. C is a beautiful language. Sure it has its problems if you use it poorly, which is very easy to do, but used properly it is still my favourite language. I find that problems I solve with C are generally solved better in the sense th

How not to use Windows 10? Well if you need to use Windows then stick with 7 or 8.1 (and disable installation of the recent telemetry updates pushed with Windows Update recently). If you don't need Windows but want support options th

Couldn't agree more. Sun, for all their faults, knew what Java was about. For me Java died the day Oracle bought Sun. I am glad I have nothing to do with Oracle anymore. With Microsoft making more and more of .NET open source I hope to

Far better is to not use Windows 10 and tell Microsoft why.

Every time I read about this awful case I am reminded how happy I am to have left Java behind. Yes as a developer this makes no difference to me in any practical way but it did put an awkward and uncomfortable cloud over the Java framework

Are you sure? I have looked at the BIOS string and there is no product key. BIOS embedded product keys was something that happened with the Windows 8 release. Are you thinking of something else?

It is a ThinkPad T420s. The product key is on the CoA behind the battery not in the BIOS.

I have read online (but not verified myself) than using a Windows 7 or 8/8.1 key works. This might be true or it might be misinformation. The upgrade only took 10 minutes so I did it that way with the plan to always wipe and clean inst

Yeah a colleague ordered one about 2 weeks ago. Lovely machine and Lenovo have done an amazing job with the weight. I still prefer the T series over the W series as I don't need that much power and prefer the much lighter machine.
