God will Flash just die already. Firefox is my primary browser and I run it without Flash. On the very odd occasion I need it I have IE in protected mode which has Flash built in. If a site does use Flash I will seek an alternative though a

I have always found the Haskell community to be very friendly to newbies. They have a great channel on freenode. However I do agree that their can be a lot of arrogance in the FP world. This is actually true of quite a few languages though.

Yes that is exactly my problem! Glad to see it is properly fixed and not "fixed by accident". I will live with h/w acceleration off for a few weeks I guess.

I wonder if for-sale model will help offset costs towards the free-for-school units? Something similar to the Get-One-Give-One OLPC.

If I am honest it is just that I prefer compiled languages. I like Java because it is hard to do stupid things in it but still compiles down to something I can hand over to other people without them being able to break it by opening it in n

I think Java is a nice teaching tool. It has a good OO design and you can't break anything with it. No worrying about memory, etc. The only real drawback is the verbosity and having to "just do" things at the beginning (such
