Drones are overrated in my opinion. Most of the "map an area" use cases are more cost effective via airplane pilots doing their miles. Most of the "monitor an area" use cases are more cost effective via CCTVs.

I think some of situations like that are simply caused by standardized POS systems being used. Some greed was probably involved as well, but I've a few similar situations, where tip was asked in non-tippy scenarios after business adapt

Not defending grab, but osm has lots of false negatives. Satellite image does not have to be outdated - you can get less than 6 months old satellite image accurate enough to extract roads and buildings from Digital Globe or Airbus. Shameles

IMO it depends on the person. I know some people who would thrive in the startup environment but would be annoyed in big corp. And vice versa. Matching your work style to the company style will matter more for your work enjoyment than a bit
