The risks of driving and seasonal flu are fairly well understood. And there are mitigation’s in place: seatbelts, traffic laws, theraflu, flu shots, etc. I’m not calling you a murderer. I’m asking you to put a hard number in the risk you ar

Let’s not talk abstractly. How many deaths within your family and circle of friends are you willing to accept?

by kitotik 7y ago
We’ve had more documented covid-19 deaths in ~6 weeks than we usually have murders in an entire year and it hasn’t even peaked yet. We have no clue how many cases there even are because we’ve utterly failed to do mass testing. Serious q

Roadmap v. Plan is an age old argument many PMs have had! If I draw out a map to Disneyland, even going as far to include which freeway exits to take, or maybe even going further as to plot out a few stops for gas, this still says nothing a

It seems fairly obvious this is not, nor was it intended to be, a “plan”. This “Roadmap” was likely rushed out as part of a coordinated political response to threats made by the POTUS to override state decisions. It was framed in the local

No, they have been available to only “seniors and high risk individuals”. Literally just today Mayor Garcetti announced testing for everyone is available.

Out of curiosity, what do most people use this for? (I tried rewording this question a few times to not sound snarky, but failed.)

Welcome to the post-corona era of (even more blatant) corporate empowerment. With the oncoming onslaught of unemployment, they will only get more brazen in the reduction of workers rights and baseline dignity.

It’s obviously not focused on private comms, so it won’t be a replacement for actual e2e private messaging and chat. For the public content, the lack of commercial advertising incentives is probably a big one. IME the client apps and server

Hand writing JSON/YAML/HCL beyond an initial POC or very, very simple tasks seems like a bad smell. Using whatever language your project already uses to then dump to these formats is a way more sane pattern IMHO.

I was going suggest “Pleb Management” but the acronym “PM” is already overused between Product/Program/Project Management.

Right. I guess my question is more around the actual sensation and expressiveness when using it. Is it simply “the more I tense up the muscle the higher the voltage”? Is it able to be more or less expressive than say a Cv joystick or a high

Good lord. I guess I knew this was possible, but seeing it in practice is something else entirely. I wonder if it’s output unipolar 0-10v or bipolar -5/+5 and how that “feels” to the user.

Agreed. I’m only a part time vegan these days, but I have taken a few carnivores to this place with rave reviews.

Interesting that a “hotspot” with multiple large events during the initial outbreak is still only at ~14% percent infected. This would seem to indicate that there’s a ways to go before a real peak.

I can’t tell who the primary user for this may be. Is it meant to replace traditional CDNs outright?

The whole industry seems to be standardizing around it. It is quite awesome. The main problem I’m already seeing is CXOs treating it like a checklist/dashboard, which of course is futile as it’s meant to be prioritized similar to a pro
