Agreed. Plus: Sometimes practicality has to win out over idealism We're engineering software, not writing constitutions. Practicality always comes first IMHO.

Minor quibble: a heat engine converts heat to mechanical energy. So is a heat engine with no moving parts a contradiction in terms?

Good article. This bit is interesting: The third downside is that, unless you can differentiate your product from what already exists, it’s going to be hard to find a foothold in the market. Given how many software products already exist,

A better description is that of garden landscaping. You have a reasonable idea of what you want to achieve, and it looks good on paper, but until you have actually walked through it, touched and felt it, you don't know whether it reall

As a rank amateur in the field but a pro s/w developer, this sounds like describing the world as FSMs rather than fundamental algorithms. How off-course am I?

This basically puts a REST/HTTP GET frontend on your messaging backend (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT, etc). So whatever events you want to expose publicly can be done over plain HTTP. Having said that, IMO using SSE or websockets would be a b

I looked at Fresh a while back and it looked a fun and "easy" route into assembler. Do they still have the Mandelbrot sample? IIRC, the trick is to get the pre-assembler to generate a binary image of a Mandelbrot set. No actual ru
