Just stumbled across this a few days ago. Very pleased to have it in my pipewire audio stable. Linux audio is moving along very nicely!

Interesting. And Zig too? Hmm.

Sadly, I gave up accounting in high school after failing to reason through the meaning of 'credit' and 'debit' (Yes, I went in too deep!). My epiphany came in B-school when I tackled it again, when I finally figured out

Hmm, that does not sound right.

Rockbox was very cool. I used it for many years.

Well said. I think if the vaccines hadn't come out at all, it could well have been as bad as the Spanish Flu.

Why? I'm interested to know.

Yes, I understand the requirements for EU/NATO membership and that Ukraine is a long way from there. I thought it was realistic given the circumstances: Ukraine is quite literally fighting for eastern Europe - including those countries

<Ukraine joining NATO is just not ever going to be allowed to happen.> I believe a lot will depend on the outcome of this war as well as its ramifications for Putin's grip on power. Ukraine has so far defied all the odds and I wo

Given what's already happened, and provided (I'm hoping) Ukraine continues to hold out as it has, both EU/NATO membership is looking very realistic and likely to occur in relatively quick order. I think settling for less woul

Count me in among the flakes who went for Pinot Noir (and, um, still do) because of Sideways.

PipeWire is fantastic already, and I can't wait for it to take Linux audio to where it should and can be! I've got my broken mess of a configuration for alsa, mpd, mpv, Firefox and pulseaudio all working again after a long, broken

No, that seems logical but as is usually the case, such logic is simplistic and likely to cause more complications. It is more important to identify the cause of low testosterone and address that. Then you get to return testosterone to norm

You, sir/madam, have pointed out a most germane fact.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I find it very poignant.

Interesting comment. <Shows in great details Indira Gandhi was a real Ironlady> Would you hail me as an 'Ironlady' if I were to overwhelm you by force? <who brought Sikkim into democratic fold removing the monarchy> Wh

It's a great development. I'm keen to see how it galvanizes the Clojure ecosystem in the years ahead. I came to search HN to see if this had been posted yet. A link to Rich Hickey's post would be better, imo: https:/&#x

I remember trying to set up a PVR and getting pretty far using mpv and at. The system worked as long as it was left on. rtcwake was the bridge that was too far: Upon waking, recording started but ACPI errors occurred soon after, culminating

It's certainly in keeping with a fine tradition! "This kernel is tainted by Nvidia." is another I remember, as of course that notable middle finger that was thrust skyward in similar context.

Having just emerged from an exploratory dive into Wayland, this thread popping up here is surely a sign from the gods. :) It's been a good experience: Weston, sway and Wayland itself have such tiny foot prints while doing so much. I ha

Interesting. It's a high bar indeed but personally I find Trevor to match Jon both as comic and intellectual.

And then Jon Stewart went on to discover Trevor Noah. It's a fine tradition we have here.

Those ideas look solid. It will require the board to make some critical decisions and there has to be a person for the moment. Do we have the analog to Steve Jobs in this situation - Brendan Eich?

Apple was the ultimate outlier in that respect. It would be great if someone could pull this off for Mozilla. The odds are slim, but one can hope. Edit: Cal Peterson's article clearly shows how we got here. Such a shame.
