I'm pretty sure it's fuelled by pettiness following the sinking of Trump's rally in Tulsa, Okla by TikTok teens and K-Pop Stans. Being "tough on China" and national security are convenient cover. It's just sad

Quantum was just one of the milestones, albeit an important one. Servo continues to develop and pass on many more features to Firefox. Shutting it down is basically shutting the major pipeline of progress that has gotten so many of us excit

<But Firefox Quantum only exists because of Servo> Which is why, for the life of me, I just can't see the logic of firing the Servo team.

'The Second Textbook' is a nice perspective which resonates with me. In my experience I've found the need for as many textbooks as I can get my paws on - each book usually handles one or other topic better than others, or giv

An excellent assessment - Rich, Stu and team clearly must have assessed the option similarly. Congratulations to Cognitect and here's wishing them well.

And thank you for jguitar, my go to for chord reference for years now.

I'm weary of travel too, and most weary of doing touristy things. If I can I like to plonk myself into places for extended periods and take my time wandering around. For the most part I agree that travel is overrated. Most translations

Yes, certainly different strokes. For me the fire hose of trending topics was too much, even with the occasionally fantastic post among them. So I rarely go there. Then there are the really large communities covering subjects that interest

by kinleyd 6y ago
Frankly, that depends on the communities to which you subscribe. Select the right ones and it is a wonderful place to be.

<If they were just doing it for fun, why bother taking backups?> Because the assertions being made are rather more serious?

Yes. It was $1M after the volume discount.

That was the first thought I had as well. I came looking for kindred souls and am glad I've found at least a couple.

Spot on.

I'm less than pleased too. Darn it!

Yes, I think a better way to quickly save and organize bookmarks, addressing needs for both immediate use and for long-term reference would be a good way forward.

by kinleyd 6y ago
Yes, that would be an excellent entry point!

I started out with that view too. Now, after many years of using Clojure, I have come to love the JVM: so many of the libraries it comes with have become critical pieces of my daily workflow.

Eric is highly recommendable. He has lots of free lessons on Youtube that provide a foundation for all styles of singing.

This user is probably in the 0.01% of hardcore org-mode users. For others like myself, org-mode files are far simpler. I have, for example, long eschewed even commonly used features like task management, preferring to focus on things like r

I've come to appreciate emojis a lot for that reason. gifs, not so much - although the really good gifs go down well with me.

Providing for an assumed future requires sacrifice and is the right bet. While doing that, understand that the journey is the destination. It's a tall order but somewhere in there is the answer to a lot of life's questions.

User name doesn't check out. ;) Truth be told, you hit the nail on the head for me, at all the different levels of the issue that you covered. As the years go by I feel more and more grateful that I'm still alive, and though I did

The same here. Been meaning to sort it out for myself for some years now. Finally done that: "A history ..." is how I was taught, and it shall remain that way.

Coming from a very small and somewhat impoverished country, I agree fully with your comment. I enjoy Netflix now, and am warming up a lot to the NBA and NFL's League Pass subscriptions. These three have nailed it for me price-wise and

Thank you, this was so timely. My zsh terminals have been saving my command history but, for reasons I didn't know, were not displaying them. I'm much pleased to have that sorted out.
