Javascript in my opinion is still very young. You can't compile it to web assembly (yet) and the fact that there are different browsers that interpret it in so many different ways make for libraries to exist to mitigate this. Also none

Yeah, I'm over the sentiment. Everyone knows PHP is a poorly designed language. There are many pitfalls and gotchas to watch out for. Still, it absolutely shouldn't be discredited. There are ways (albeit unnecessary for other lang

Although I remember reading somewhere that mosquitos have a negative footprint on ecology. There's definitely a ton of research at the moment on mosquito control. There was another article on HN a few years ago on a device that tracks

It was an awesome phenomena to witness while it lasted. Sadly this is how it is with most games. People get bored if there's no stream of content to keep them engaged. Other games stay on top for so long by continuing to have in-game s

I wonder who it is that downloads a TB of data to distribute, and if they have a special means they're able to do that.

At the moment it feels very much like Instagram except with the ability to filter by tags or something. Only with Instagram I can curate my content based on who I follow and they also provide a better means of discovery. As a new social med

Isn't Google invested in Uber? Didn't Uber order 100,000 units of Mercedes vehicles to do something with? Isn't GM partnered with Lyft to accomplish a self-driving taxi service? I don't know, I think Uber and Lyft are w

Thank you so much Tim for such a fantastic library. I can honestly say that I use it more than the libraries that inspired it (underscore/lodash).

Yeah, I'm also not a fan of the DI example. I would rather explicitly pass it down the component tree or use Redux's connect. I believe React's docs advise against using context.

I think any Nintendo IP would do well from the brand itself. But you're right. Pokemon Go is different. As someone who once obsessed with Pokemon 20 years ago, this game is like living a childhood dream. I'm pretty sure many other

It really doesn't have the polish of a Nintendo Pokemon game. Execution being poor is referring to its technical accomplishments, not its gameplay.

You have to admit they're lucky we love Pokemon so much that we're willing to tolerate restarting the game every 2 minutes to continue playing the game. I'm on HN. When I say execution is poor, I'm referring to their tec

The numbers will absolutely drop. I mean, there's definitely a ton of content that can be added like earning gym badges, Gen 2-6 Pokemon (which people don't really care about), trading, PvP, etc. But, at the end of the day I doubt
