You really think this causes lumber prices to fly through the roof though? It may have been a factor but it seems a stretch that NYC restaurants would increase demand that much.

I agree with your overall post, but the demand was likely less driven by federal stimulus, than everyone being stuck home and looking around and realizing maybe its time to finally fix that fence/deck, and knock out that project I have

Interestingly, I am in the middle of replacing my HVAC which died last fall. I was dead set on getting a heat pump. I didn't really care about the increased upfront cost, so long as I was getting increased comfort and there would be a

Just one anecdote, but I bought a Canon in either late 2014 or early 2015 and it works great- it looks like I have printed about 6000 pages on it- mostly academic papers. IIRC it was a clearance that was selling for $300ish when it original

I had a Creative Nomad, which I bought around the end of 2003 and I was scoffed at by Ipod owners at how big it was. Doing a little digging, this was the model: https://www.cnet.com/reviews/creative-nomad-jukebox-zen-xt

If you already have a central AC system, a heat pump is more or less a drop in replacement. The heat pump becomes both your heat and AC unit. Heat pumps are now the most premium option on units offered by the well known names in HVAC- Trane

I am not sure the case you are making here- most people who would be switching to a heat pump for heat are almost certainly using oil, natural gas, or propane to heat their homes, all of which require a good deal of centralization. Those th

I got stuck in this trap for a bit at my last job. I was called a "manager" and expected to do all of the managerial bits, but only had 2 others on my team that were very junior. Yet I was still expected to take on a full IC load,

I think a huge point you are missing here is the whole supply and demand aspect. The whole point of raising interest rates is to reduce the demand of borrowed money. What made sense to borrow for at 1% interest may not make sense at 4.75%.

Well lets say you work at TechCompany. TechCompany makes most of its revenue off of ads, but it has a bunch of side bets in classifieds, AI, self driving cars (or so its rumored), virtual reality, chat, even some finance tools. Now you want
