Thanks again. We'll have the content and service more concisely defined in the next few days.

The communication of what our service does is an issue we're aware of and the feedback we received today has helped us pinpoint the key things that we can fix quickly so that it makes much more sense to everyone. We'll have it fixed up in

Excellent. We're building a marketplace, so if that isn't clear I definitely dropped the ball in communications on the first few pages. (It's more clear when there are active listings, but we don't have any of those yet...) Which text spec

Thanks for the feedback. 1) We would prefer it if people register with Facebook but I agree that I've made it a little too discrete to register without it in the new design. 2/3) I'll add the background text examples to the search fields li

Finding the line between persistent and annoying is the skill of an exceptionally good salesperson. I find that it's situational. On an attempt like this where it's the first call and I've managed to get through with an e-mail. I set the fi

"How did you get their contact info?" Sometimes very creatively. First, try the easy path and call the office and ask the receptionist to pass you through. They're VERY skilled at telling you to go away nicely so be polite and get your pitc

Selling is hard. Selling something new is harder. Selling something new B2B without connections or an extremely strong value add feels almost impossible. I've been there a few times, though I had some previous use cases as tools in my selli

Bias towards action: release it! Then fix it based on what people tell you and what your own thoughts are. Find ways to make it so that people want to use it. Without releasing it, you'll never know. It's really hard to release something th

We're also a Winnipeg based startup located out of the NRC on Ellice. If you happen to be using or interested in Ruby one of our guys runs the Ruby User Group out of our office once a month. The next one is this coming Thursday. If that's n

I actually follow a number of blogs of some of the ladies in my city because they post interesting pictures that give me some inspiration because it's very foreign to the space my head is in all the time. I think they'll love this. Visually

A very big problem, indeed. I assume since the OP has been able to convince others to join them in the first place that the idea and what they're working on is compelling enough. Therefore if they're leaving so quickly there is most likely

Hmmm. Interesting, thanks. All news to me, unfortunately. We need a more connected nationally distributed network of startup founders, methinks. We're spread out in Canada and even the larger urban centres aren't _rich_ with tech activity (

Waterloo? I admit I'm really sheltered from the rest of the Canadian scene from Winnipeg as the startup scene is scarce but I haven't heard much from Waterloo out here. If I had to name the top three I would have said the same in that orde

Agreed. I spent years thinking of ideas and dropped many of them because I felt they weren't good enough. When one hits that is good enough, don't stop, just do it.
