as a business that has to turn a profit, of course you will not pay significantly more than you have to. Base Salaries are demand and supply driven which also means that if i can pay more, i can also get more skilled/experienced people

When was the last time you went out for danish, swedish or finnish food? These countries are small and their food isn't known around the world, but that does not mean that it's bad.

Just because you know another thing with the name doesn't make it illegal to use that name as it has a meaning anyway. There is also a CMS called Lepton. Pretty sure this will soon be the most popular product with this name anyway.

In my circles (software dev in europe) everyone is on LinkedIn and a LOT of recruiting goes through it. I don't like it at all, but it is the status quo for recruiting in many countries.

I use the reverse lookup and zsh history heavily and it has served me well. Whats the benefit of this, logs that go back for a longer time ? I am not sure what the default setting on zsh is tbh.

This is usually not true for very high end CPUs once they get older, they might even get more expensive. Here in Germany, the 5960X is still >1000 EUR for example.

To call 3d modeling "3d development" and saying it's all in one package vs web development where you have css, html, serverside stuff is kind of a moot point though. It is comparable to 2D design work that you need in web dev

I am just curious (and a total machine learning novice). If you were to experiment with ML, what are the benefits to getting a fast consumer card like this or use something like AWS GPU instances (or some other cloud provider) ? Or phrased

16GB RAM is not really common in laptops, especially Chromebooks. The new Macbook had 4GB last year and 8GB this year. For the price it is a pretty good offering if you fit into the (probably small) customer base.

Ops point was that the original price of 40k in 2003 is now 7k for the total installation. That will change your math somewhat :) So even with your low power bill it's more like 6 years.
