At Floobits, we started out using Backbone and handlebars because that is what we knew. About a year ago, we did a rewrite into React + Flux (our own implementation, because it was a year ago). The rewrite reduced KLOCs by something like

I will eschew Wittgenstein's advice and take the bait- I don't think the techno-religion claim is too far off the mark. Of course, the entirety of our argument is over the definition of religion. | Unlike religions, cryonics is n

I did - the full quote is: Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted. I feel the same way about Breaking Bad and Mad Men - the last few episodes are painful.

In the early 20th century, math ordinarily used to describe waves was applied to very small systems of particles. This was both strange and extraordinarily successful at modeling systems (if only probabilistically). Applying physical mean

The Elements of Style is both dated and largely self-contradictory. Vonnegut judged his own work by slightly different metrics: 1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was 2. Give the reader

There is no reason for short term renters or their neighbors to behave. For instance, at one AirBnB rental, my upstairs neighbor used to do jumping jacks in boots - maybe just to piss off the people below, I don't know. For that matt

I don't believe this problem should be solved with regulation - AirBnB should handle it better internally. For that matter, I would advise you to ask the landlord ahead of time in the future and to only pay with AmEx - they side with

There are many things a reasonable person would expect of a short term rental. It is unreasonable to expect a contract to enumerate every one of them. For that matter, no cancellation policies create extremely perverse incentives.

Have you ever had to deal with a noisy neighbor? In SF, there is no recourse. Tenants can't be evicted and the police don't care. About the only thing you can do is to enter an escalating war of noise making. Short term rental

The amount of money flowing from patronage pales in comparison to the capital of the VC industry. Patronage could never take over later rounds. There would still be bootstrapped startups, but far less of them. Another thought is that 10%
