Those instances where people demonstrate verbatim copies, are mostly either well known snippets which have been copied a million times already, or obvious completions of a partial verbatim piece of the supposedly copied code that any coder

Yep. Most of the people I know don't want to pay subscription fees for cloud services, when their own desktops are powerful enough to run what they're working on. Just automate localhost development environment deployment.

Consistently applying a design language is probably more important than the design language (e.g. your rule of threes) itself. Except for exceptions to your design rule which will form the finishing touch. :) Another nice design palette rul

All the computers I've owned and used are still in working condition, except for one. The oldest ones all have had their hard drives replaced, the oldest desktops all had GPU upgrades. Upgrade one, and shift the rest down the line. Onl

Interesting read. Thanks for the links! Explains the hardware rationale for tiled renderers really well. I remember tiling techniques being used on desktop mostly for localising lighting passes. Being able to cache framebuffer tiles to get

Neat. Getting a triangle to render is 99% of the work to getting games running. Only the remaining 99% to go... :)

Use Qt for tool GUI. Write your own game engine, it's fun. Other programmers aren't God. Use OpenGL ES or Vulkan. Windows, Android, and Linux are really the only platforms that matter.

I use VPN services because my ISPs routing has a strange habit of going the wrong way around the globe and making mystery detours through the US. Picking a good point in-between helps to get on less congested paths.

Liberica coffee goes by the name Barako in the Philippines. Might help with the search. They sell it in large bags here on the local markets. (No idea what for, though. Pretty much everyone here just drinks sugary instant coffees...)

The issue with SoR was not really technological constraints. More budgetary and time constraints, and the people who had the creative vision left shortly after release. The commercial game is now run by a finance guy and a web developer, pr

Look for the Ryzom Core Discord or IRC chat. There's a couple of us in the open source community hoping to build such a thing, based on an existing MMO codebase and assets. The key point is that all missions should be impactful on the

In general, the first step is to put that grounding rod, put a big enough wire (whatever the standard is for 32A will do) from there into your house. Your ground circuit can be separate from your regular wiring, that's okay. Don't

Oh, yeah. I never went to max level in an MMO I used to play. Once you reach max level in a skill tree, there's no more point in exercising that skill. The reward is that you no longer get rewards. So, why bother? The goal of reaching
