Some great stuff here in the comments for you, but don't get caught up in decision paralysis. The truth is no matter which you learn it will create a foundation for you to (if you're interested) pick up other languages and/or frameworks.

Cool... except for the name. How about something pronounceable (you know, for kids). Logo in python syntax with missions- exactly what I'm going to need for my kids.

I, also, was expecting to see visualizations that were able to draw out information or truths that traditional forms wouldn't be able to do. To me that would be stunning. Instead I see data turned into art, in many cases (especially the s

Good heavens. Reading the NYT comments I'm surprised at how many people take issue with the choice of words- "maker" and "manager," or assume that pg was somehow trying to degrade one or the other. Sometimes I wonder if there's a secret c

Introspection is very healthy and worthy, I agree. My response was meant to counteract a little of the alarmism. As for opinions getting mods, that's generally how it works- in a way every post is a poll and you get people agreeing with t

There is an argument in the whole masking argument that doesn't really have anything to do with security- it is that filling out a box and having the characters masked is a well known usability metaphor for users- implying the content shoul

The tool he's missing that I end up using constantly is Memoize - http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/~billm/memoize.html - enormously simplified my make processes, and works very well with Fabric and the others.
