"wage theft" - I think for those jobs the wage is known beforehand. If it is too low for you, don't take it. If somebody refuses to pay you the promised wage, that would be theft and a case for the law.

Predicting occasional extreme weather events doesn't prove anything. There have always been occasional extreme weather events. Also in what sense is it supposed to be a "destabilizing event"? I predict it will get warm again.
